Until you finish the story you're stuck with level 17.

If you are only on level 17 you are no way near the "end" of the game, for the final mission the anubis is the best. The final level should have carried on from the previous ones, i.e. continuous, therefore you shouldn't have needed to any other missions. If you cant carry on with the main storyline you prolly have done something wrong, like declined the storyline missions. Once the storyline missions have finished tho the "leveling" changes to how much more you need,

I'm now Level 20 and i have to make a mission to reach the next level...But when i make a mission nothing happens....

Peking Duck, since you are level 20 you have beaten the game, and after that your rank is determined from net worth alone; there are no mission requirements. The game sometimes says that the next level requirement is 'mission' but that seems to be a glitch and it has no consequences anyway.

dm2021lab, when the game says "Next Level Requirement: Mission" during the campaign then this does not refer to freelance missions; it refers to story missions and normally you are given these missions by NPCs (Juni in most cases). Hit the 'N' key to see where you have to go to get your next mission. I guess you went AWOL after mission 9; in that case Juni will be waiting for you in the Kyoto bar.

Hey, I am not you so I do not know how you got your Titan and your Eagle. I guess you bought them. :p

After the end of the game your rank (level) is determined by your net worth and it can go down as well as up. Traders can fluctuate 5 to 10 levels easily, but even fighters can go down several levels in one go when they purchase expensive equipment. And if you use consumables (ammo, nanos/bots) instead of collecting & selling them then it is easy to lose lots of money fast, especially hs higher-level missiles, mines and torpedoes are very expensive.

ugh u dont just take just 1 mission...do missions intill u lvl up...give it time

i understand the leveling system of the game.....net worth vs. mission requirements and all....thats not my question.....i am inside the dyson sphere.....is that the last level??....i had read that there were only 13 missions to the sp campaign, and in my save games it says " MISSION 13: INSIDE THE DYSON SPHERE: or some such, ya know...the mission auto saves on the save/load menu screen....anyway....i became level 17 several missions back.....and since then my next level requirement has maintained the word: MISSION......and each mission ending has directly prompted me to accept the next mission...through a cinematic or something similar..and even though i have beaten several missions i still have not leveled again....i have the anubis....is this the end of the sp campaign???..

Why can't you buy a Stiletto ... level requirement? I got stuck on the mission at the arch -- couldn't get more than 2 or 3 shield generators before I got blown up. So I began all over again. This time I knew what I was doing and went after long range Outcast guns. Flew the arch mission in a Barracuda with Outcast guns and it was embarrassingly easy.

You can ignore the game missions for a while -- nothing happens to you if you do -- and when I finished the story line, I saw my level jump from 18 to 26 in one swell foop. (Must have been the money I made freelancing and selling salvage equipment.)
