"ANUBIS" is it good???

Can anyone tell what they think about the "ANUBIS"

shes a pretty nice ship to fly, mind you you only have it for the last 2 missions then after the game you ditch it as quick as you possibly can

If you have a Drake, keep it. The Anubis doesn't compare to it. If you don't have a Drake, go find one in Kusari space and equip it with the best weapons/shields you can get for it. You'll breeze through the final SP missions with it.

The anubis is a nice ship but there ships with better specs. Its a jack of all trades, master of none.

If you like the heavy firepower then the eagle handles roughly as well but has better firepower and armour.

If you like the maneuverability then go for the hammerhead/dragon/valkyrie which have similar firepower and handle better.

Anubis is special in that it's your first VHF. And it has a cool engine trail, the only one of a different color you ever get. It is the single lowest priced ship in the game, so if you need a few extra bucks in the last few missions, you can always sell whatever you're flying for an Anubis and make some quick cash. It's a decently maneuverable ship, given enough experience and good enough equipment it could last even out in the Omicrons and Omegas.

However, it is limited by relatively low level equipment, and insufficient Nanos/Batts. With the right gun combo, it could probably be deadly, but it wouldn't last too long against a post-SP Nomad squad.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Its looks nice but the hammerhead, falcon, valkyire, titan, sabre and eagle all have better specs.

I like the Anubis. I like the name, yay for the Egiptians. I like all the guns you can put on it. and I like the look of it. I don't like the low lvl weps, but meh. The amount of bats and bots are ok. I've learned not to get hit in this game. So much easier that way....

@spacedriver:
drake is light fighter with weak powerplant...
if u use that crap for last two levels=suicide

It is definitely full of hardpoints. Sold my blood dragon for it(needed money) It's not bad when you use engine kill tatics. Without that it turns too slow.

I like the Anubis but i havent tried the Drake yet. maybe i should

Post Wed Jun 11, 2003 8:45 pm

the barricuda is like the anubis without the turrent.. turns better though- I ended up with anubis in sp but did'nt like the way it handled- if you get anubis try 2 types of each gun so shields come down fast.. ended up with 2 pyro type 1, 2 luger type a, and 2 wakizashi did in everything in single player pretty quick

1st time thru the game, I was poor. Just too cheap to pass up, and I needed cash.
Bought too many Torps. I considered the Anubis a Freighter after SP.
A real GOOD freighter.

I thought the anubis looked great when I first bought it. Plus it was very cheap. For the final parts of the SP campain its probably a very good choice as its got the weapon levels taht are adaquete to provide a challenge and not make things hard. Though I did think it could have used more bots/bats.

The Anubis is a truly fine ship. Among the class 6 fighters it has the best armour, best powerplant, best loadout possibilities, largest cargo hold, largest nano/batt capacity, and so on. The Anubis is also one of the best-looking ships and everything about it is just ... right. It is really fun to fly this ship.

In short, the Anubis beats all other fighters in all respects except one: manoeuverability.

And manoeuverability is the key to survival. It does not matter whether you have a class 3 shield or a class 6 one if the enemy cannot hit you. Thus, a light fighter like the Drake has the same survivability as a heavy fighter with a shield two or three classes higher. And the better maneouverability also means that a light fighter can be at the tail of an enemy pretty much continuously and hit them all the time, while a heavy (or even very heavy) fighter gets much less opportunity to hit the target. As a result, a light fighter actually can dispatch non-stationary targets much faster than a heavy fighter of the same class, even though the heavy fighter may have 50% more gun mounts and a 30% bigger powerplant. OTOH, a heavy fighter may be able to compensate to a certain degree by using high-class missiles and torpedoes.

@lord of sunystem:
The Drake runs rings around the Anubis anytime, and it is the easiest ship for beating the campaign. Moreover, the Drake can go pretty much anywhere in the Sirius sector but there are several systems where I wouldn't want to go with an Anubis. A class 6 shield in the Drake is worth the same as a class 8 one in the Anubis (the difference being that you actually can get a class 6 shield for the Drake, of course). The powerplant has about 75% of the capacity of the Anubis powerplant and this is more than sufficient for beating the campaign (even the Patriot or Dagger are strong enough); the difference between the powerplants of Drake and Anubis is less than the difference between energy-efficient weapons and mediocre or even downright poor ones. IOW, a Drake equipped with efficient weapons can deliver more damage than an Anubis equipped with inefficient ones. Of course, if you equip the Anubis with good guns then you have something that is really fun to use.

The difference between Drake and Anubis is roughly the same as between Patriot and Defender. I know that you can beat the game in a Patriot (did it myself) but I have my doubts with regard to the Defender ...
