Eve Online has been out for a few weeks now. Reviews were slow in coming, since E3 eclipsed it's announced release, and all the reviewers were reviewing E3. You'll find that they're trickling in now, however.
Among the things I've heard in the reviews is: Eve's universe is huge. Eve is what Freelancer should've been for ship customization and economy. Eve is the most boring MMORPG...ever.
That last bit is the most echoed sentiment about the game, unfortunately. The universe is so huge that you spend at least thirty minutes trying to get to anything worthwhile. You are completely detatched from combat. Click on your target, and wait for the rock/paper/scissors AI to decide who won or lost. It's a game where you spend most of your time waiting, or mowing the lawn. The most exciting aspect of the game seems to be the chat bar; because it's the only interaction you're likely to get during the long travel times.
I was looking forward to the game, but with so many negative comments about it's nature, I've decided to hold off on a buy. Maybe some future updates will turn things around, but I'm not holding my breath.
