I'm in an Eagle. It's a VH Fighter, but it handles like a Heavy fighter! I did try flying a Titan but it... just... doesn't... turn... enough.
I don't have just one favorite. The minute I choose one ship, I immediately start craving another one.
I like the Legionaire for it's graceful wings, but hate it's cockpit design. I can only fly it until I have to use cockpit view.
I like the Drake for it's high maneuverability. I think it's the most capable fighter in the game. While I like the cockpit and weapon mounts, something about it (the lack of real wings?) just throws me off.
I like the Mule for it's sheer ugliness. It's stained and paint-chipped exterior reminds me of Star Wars ships and the general seediness of the pirates that use the ship. It's slapped together and does away with form in favor of functionality. This ship should've been the starter ship for Trent, IMHO.
I like the Barracuda/Hammerhead for it's narrow, vertical appearance. I thought it was a pretty unique look until I saw similarities in "Lost in Space" and the B-Wing of "Star Wars." Even so, I feel that this ship has the most menacing appearance of any ship within Freelancer.
I like the Crusader...and I don't know why.
Every so often I fly a Hawk/Falcon/Eagle for their sleek look. Unfortunately, they also have a very generic aspect, that soon always leaves them as a stepping stone to something "better."
I like the Dagger, but can't stand it's heavy fighter or VHF iterations. The Dagger has a sleek space fighter look about it. Something about that lower boom on the larger variants just don't work. Ironically, they were the ships I longed for before the game was released and I was merely looking at screenshots/cover art.
I like the Clydesdale the most among the freighters. It's sleek and powerful looking, and I love the cockpit design. I think the thing that I enjoy the most about the Bretonian ships is the sleek intake grills worked into the body.

When i played the game i found that i had many favourite ships :p so here i go...
Light Fighter....... has to be the Phiranha coz of its shape, and design.
Heavy Fighter...... I dont care how badly anyone diss' the Liberty Defender it Rawked :p
V. heavy Fighter......Has to be the Sabre, it has the design of the kewl enemy type ship look, and the agility of a heavy fighter :p
Freighter.......At the mo i cant decide between the Mule for its design, and the Dromedary coz of its cargo space :p
"If you've got nothing nice to say, come and sit next to me"

Titan....Very Heavy Fighter...Heaviest Armor...Heaviest energy capacity....big bang....very big....but trying to get something bigger....a Cruiser
God bless mods....besides, i hear there is a cruiser in the original version of the game in Omicron Minor....I've been there and there really is a cruiser there but i'm not sure if it's due to the mod (B5 mod btw) or if it's inherent to the game...but what the heck...the bigger, the heavier and the stronger the punch, the better gotta B-) everyone else
He who has a king in a land of eyes, is blind

Yeah, I've flown the Sabre too. It's probably my second favourite VHF, as it handles ok. Like a I say, the Titan is just waaaaaay to slow for me, especially considering I played the story missions (second time round) using only light fighters, which are the bomb.
The Crusader definitely looks like a mutant space lobster. In fact, if you look carefully, ALL the Bretonnian ships look like fish of some kind. It's part of their theme, like the gunmetal grey, snail-shelled Rheinland ships.
I don't have any mods yet, so I wouldn't know about capital ships, gunboats or whatever. But isn't it true that capital ships can't have shields? Isn't that like a massive disadvantage?

There isnt enuff difference in the ships. Especially when you learn how to "extract the maximum financial gain" from any given area. You can always get out of trouble in freelancer using the stock propulsion setup, which means sitting there in the middle of combat taking hits is less than profitable. it just boils down to looks for the most part, which is a shame in my opinion. I currently use the Koensayr Y-wing. it is about on par with the Titan and I did not start using it until going thru the single player campaign several times before adding the mod. (repetitive travel times got to me)
I have flown several on my way to level 38. These are my fav's :-
Defender - my first heavy
Barracuda - loved the look
Anubis - excited when I got it, decent armour for a change
Valkyrie - had to find out what the German pilots felt like in this beast
Falcon - pretty cool look, nice and manouverable
Hammerhead - Oh, yeah
Eagle - Looks good. I will probably buy it again at some stage
Sabre - Love it, love it, love it. My favourite.
Titan - Soooooo Slooow to turn in. Don't like the feel at all. I'm no great pilot, so the Armour and Shields on the Titan should siut me, but I control the Sabre and Eagle much better. Also some nomads hit me hard and blew my wing off and I lost 2 of my weaps. I prefer the Sabre's profile for defence.
