1) Go to nav map
2) Select the "Pick and Axe" button on top
3) See if there is a mineable zone
4) Go to minable zone
5) Shoot at little astroids and stuff come out

If youre gonna mine make sure it is somewhere worth while. I spent 20 minutes mining, only to realize I had about 20 pieces of scrap metal. Go to one of the Silver fields or something worth it.

there are others also but i believe these r the 2 biggest money makers,also when in system open map and clik on field and go to ? it will say what is minable there.
tau 37 has a 100% drop rate of noibium in the field by the jumphole.

Personally i think that the drop rates in that nebula east of Bautzen is too low. It takes me ages to get a full bay. You should try the Niobium field in Tau-37 (beware of the outcasts), and the BMM Gold Field in Dublin, because they have very high droprates.
