Curious Info in Sirius

Found this at a website. Stretching a bit but I found it curious.

The Dogons are a West African tribe who have known about - and worshipped - Sirius A and its Twin the invisible star Sirius B, for the past 5,000 years...

They say that approximately 5,000 years ago, Amphibious Gods came to Earth in three legged space ships from the Sirius Star System. They call the aliens Nommos.

Kind of curious Nommos...Nomads...

Wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the origianl ideas used...

wouldn't be the first time religion has inspired names in games

FF (Final Fantasy) Series:
Odin: Norse God
Tiamat: Babylonian (may have been Babylonian but i'm not completely sure) Godess
Shiva: Hindu
Siren: Mermaid type creatures that lured sailors to their doom (not really a religious belief)
Ifrit: Muslim (i think) version of satan

And many more.....

Courage isn't the ability to fly head on into the jaws of death with an arrogant smile. Its the ability to run away from a couple of Xenos and face the laughter.

You'd be surprised at the number of references like this that are subtlely incorporated into FL. It almost makes me think that some of the devs might be freemasons or something.

play diablo and you can see all those religion based name.

Nomads are actually name given to groups of people that doesn't settle down in a place for long. they tend to live a very mobile life.

Just wondering if anyone saw that really old 70's show that has spock doing the voice overs? the whole show was about this. they had these really old figures carved into the rocks, and the had the bulbus heads that look like the classic 50's fish bowl space helmet.
They had some holy site that some one stands gaurd over 24/7/365.
one of those things that makes you wonder.
Oh and at the time that show was made they had only been able to see the smaller star for a few years.

There are references like that in EVERY space game. You should just SEE the number of biblical references Relic/ Barking Dog stuck in the Homeworld Games. Devs always stick something in there to make you wonder.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless
