MOD Issue

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot. But the way the other forums were titled I was not sure if this issue was proper for that section. Nor would it get much feedback since it only had 2posts. So here is the issue.

Freelancer Rebalance MOD v1.1b2 On XP PRO did not work. Installed Fan. Placed it Fine. Started the game. Got the FREELANCER Screen then it shut out and went to windows desktop. Removed the Mod. The game did the same thing went back to Windows Desktop. The old version seemed to of not of caused this. But everytime I have tested this. I have to Uninstall Freelancer and Reinstall to get it to work again. Just warning you all. Not sure if anyone else out there had this issue with Freelancer Rebalance MOD v1.1b2

Same OS, same problem with that particular MOD, here. Reinstalling tonight, actually.

The MOD didn't seem to cause any problem initially tho, what happened is:

Was running MOD on single player campaign and it worked fine, no bumps, bruises or hiccups.

Later, I loaded an MP game and forgot to TURN OFF MODS. The game loaded fine until I tried to launch from a planet to space...then it crashed, and since I've had your problem, in that it loads all graphics then crashes to desktop right after displaying the "FreeLancer" logo.

Fix attempts:

I backup the entire game and store in a different folder before I ever loaded FLMM, and a seperate backup each time I add or change a MOD. Tried removing the normal folder from "program files" and restoring the backup, but I had the exact same problem.

Next, I tried system restore to a date before I loaded ANY mods or managers at all. After that, the main "FreeLancer.EXE" file will only open up FL Server (yes, the server.exe also opens the server). SOOO....I've uninstalled everything including backups, and will start fresh tonight.

If you had any characters saved for multiplayer, let me know. I wrote my "ID Key" and will attempt to reinstall that one to keep all of my MP characters...will let you know if it works or not.

and how did you install that thing? FLMM??

rebalance so far worked great for me.
Try deleting your save game and start over..

UPDATE: Game still didn't work after normal reinstall, but I had read about deleting old savegame files as well. After finding and deleting those, problem solved. Also, there is another folder in the directory where you find the savegame files that contains your multiplayer info--if you leave that alone, you'll KEEP all of your online characters no problem at all.

This is where I found the saved games (working from memory here, don't shoot me if i make a mistake)

Win XP Pro OS:

My Computer--->C: (or primary HD, if different drive designation)---->documents/settings---->all users (your own user ID if you have multiple accounts on the system)--->my games---->microsoft freelancer

There are a couple of folders to search thru there, but the saved game files are obviously named...so you should have no problem finding them from here. Sorry I can't help with other operating systems, dunno anyone who's running it on 98, ME or 2k.
