How to kill things.

Being bored as I am, I have compiled a few techniques on killing troublesome enemies. Feel free to add your own.

Rheinland: (assuming fighter escorts are neutralized)

BATTLESHIPS: When you are taking out the fighter escorts, try to stay away from the big boys, because their guns will put a hurting on you. Only approach when the escorts are gone. Get right in front of them, and do an engine kill, blast off the two front turrets, and try to "float" to the second stripe of windows. Now the battleship can't hit you. Save ammo. Guns will do. Also, these things are stationary.

GUNBOATS: Get behind them. They're glorified fighters that turn like whales. Their guns have good coverage, but if you stay on their tail, you can ram it up the pooper without much of a hassle. These should be a primary target when present, because they have a REALLY annoying missile launcher, and frightening weapon range. If you let one roam free and it gets on your tail, it can tear you up. (Assuming you're sporting an Anubis or LOWER.)

CRUISERS: These are probably the most dangerous of them all. They pack the same punch as a battleship, have missiles, AND can maneuver to find you. They can take it as well as they can dish it out. Strafing runs and torpedos are the order of the day with these. If you park behind one, you will soon find your shields gone. They have excellent rear coverage.

FIGHTERS: Nothing fancy. The Rheinland pilots are pretty dumb in SP campaign.

Nomads:

BATTLESHIPS: These battleships have great fields of fire, and it is pretty evenly distributed. A painless method is to torpedo them from 1500 meters out, where they can't touch you. The only downside is that you will run out of torpedos before they go up. Here are two tried and true techniques.

The strafing run: Line yourself up so you are about 2K off the nose of the battleship, and start boosting along side it. Kill engines before you get into weapon range, and turn into the target, firing everyting you have, to INCLUDE MINES. Once you float past it's weapon range, re-align yourself, and boost by it again. In single player, you will NEVER be able to remove all fighter cover, so don't even try.

The spin: Approach from the side, Fly under the Battleship, aim the mouse as high as it will go, and open up on the beast. Keep doing loops around the central fuselage at full boost. You should see the battleship rotating in the top of your screen. The beauty of this is that the fighter cover can't get a good bead on you. Pull off when your boost is down to 25-15%.

Nomad GUNBOAT: They exist, they look liike fat fighters. Hit them with 2 or 3 torpedos, Spray a few dozen rounds into them for good measure, and they're done. Easiest of all nomad ships.

Nomad FIGHTER: REMEMBER that nomads do NOT have shields. A torpedo hit on a fighter is absolutely devestating. A direct hit will drop it's health to 25%. A missile will finish them off. DO NOT use ANTI-SHIELD weapons on these guys. Missiles and Torpedos are your best bets for quick kills. The nomads are fairly agile, and very good pilots. (compared to the others) A nomad kill ins SP will get you 2 nanos and 2 batts.

SPECIAL TARGETS:

SHIELD GENERATORS: Doesn't matter which mission you are on, the process is the same. Fly up to the generators, Open up with everyting. HOLD NOTHING BACK. Fire missiles, torpedos, and mines as well. The faster the generators fall, the faster the mission ends. Screw fighter escorts. The fall of the generators ends the mission.

WEAPON PLATFORMS: Torpedos do not lock on to these. GEt close and kill them with guns. Easy as pie.

FINAL LEVEL: (spoiler.. kinda)

Those blasted islands... SCREW the weapon's platforms, fly to the craggy side of the generator, and PARK in between the 3 big rocks. Get between em REAL close, and hide. (on the top or bottom, depending on wether you have autolevel on) Take your time blasting away, just do NOT use torpedos or mines at point blank ranges. Ridiculously easy. The enemy fighters might get a hit or two on you, but not enough to call for a shield battery.

I left two houses out, because I haven't really messed with them. Feel free to add to this list.

your battleship blasting technic is faulty..

every battle ship has a blind spot where they can't hit you, and nobody else outside can hit you either.. (clue...get inside them)

Juni : Did I ever tell you that people are change by circumstancecs?
Trent : uhh[!..No?..
Juni : Well I did. Babble..babble..bla..bla..bla..
Trent : (Ok...ok.. do I get to sleep with you or not?)

Get INSIDE them? How?

Post Fri May 30, 2003 3:34 am

clue : Rheinland battle ship, go the 'head portion', notice the small hole in between there, at the top, park inside there and start shooting (no torp please..)

all other battle ships have blind spots too..

Nomad battleship has its blind spot right in the middle, just after the head. or at elast I neber got hit there from it or from a modder who brought one into a server I was on. Easiest two kills in my life

plus other ships that are attacking you, inflict some damage to the battle ship too....

Liberty Bship can't hit you if you sit just aft of its docking bay

Kusari Bship can't hit you if you sit on top of it

Rhineland Bship has that "come shoot me" crack right in the nose

Bretonia Bship...same as Liberty, just sit under the docking bay

The Nomad Bships have a large blind spot right above their big ventral spike-the one with a dish-like indentation at the tip. Sit right against the hull where that is and it can't shoot you.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless
