Well, I can see no light fighters there except for the Hawk, and the Humpbrick must be as far away from a light fighter as you can get in this game because you cannot drive battleships or planets. Have you picked the wrong thread perchance?
But beating the game in the class 7 Humpy is sure something to crow about since the race against Hovis must have been pretty darn difficult - almost as difficult as getting a level 20 ship before the end of the campaign ...

Civilian Starflier took me right through from mission 1 to 13, Great little ship that spins on a dime and being smaller, is harder to hit. No mods or cheats, no trading in for other ships and then back again. I liked loading up with a stunpulse ii, and justice ii and iii cannons with driller mines (good for damaging satilights) Gunna try it in a rhino next!! great firepower, but manouvres like a sitting duck.
Starflier ROCKS
Starflier ROCKS
My most often used set is:
- Starflier (flies great)
- Defender (just for mission 4)
- Piranha (just for Hovis but I buy it directly after mission 4 to get rid of the defender and the BHG)
- Barracuda (First chance I get. Last time I took a Hawk instead, big mistake!!! no torp mounts, had to do Tekagi and experimental shipyard with missiles and mines )
- Anubis (just to finish things up)
I think it's pretty standard, but I'm not the worlds greatest gamer and I don't hav that much patiance to try the same thing over and over again

The drake is the ultimate light fighter in the game, and beating the SP in it is childs play.
Anoyther trick to do, if your wings get blown off the drake, dont repaitr them. Deselect the wings when you go to repair. It halves the target profile of your ship, making you a much smaller target for teh enemy to hit.
It also looks a lot cooller without its wings...
Just my $0.02, but it could just be the cardamine talking.
Violence isn't my only option. Its just what I do best.

It's not possible to buy a Humpback before you finish the campaign unless you use a mod.
Anyway, in my opinion, the Dagger owns the campaign starting from when you can first buy it (at Buffalo base after completing Mission 2) until you reach Kusari space (where it gets superceeded by the Drake). It's the only light fighter available in the campaign that has an effective five guns (three level 4 and two level 3). Basically, you have all the attack power of a Defender (minus the torpedoes), with slightly more armor and cargo space and better maneuverability.

Not repairing the wings? Did it affect maneuverability?
I used the Drake all the way too. I'm not exactly happy with how they didn't make anymore decent light fighters after it, but oh well. For that reason I fly an A-wing now...
"Moloch, horrid King besmear'd with blood
Of human sacrifice, and parents tears,
Though for the noyse of Drums and Timbrels loud
Thir childrens cries unheard, that past through fire
To his grim Idol. Him the Ammonite"
