Are the bases destroyable?

I've been trying to destroy the Xeno base (that big ass asteroid) ... but all I could do is to take out the turrets and the weapon platforms. It seems like no matter how long I shoot at the base it just wouldn't blow up. Is this the way it's supposed to be? Or is there a special way I can blow up that base?

Theres no way to blow up a named, dockable base. You can blow up the outposts and space stations you will find in bar missions, but the proper bases all you can do it take one turret off.

I believe that you can download a mod from the editing forum that can make bases destroyable and they will respan after a while.....

Look out for the red damage bar when you highlight something. If it's not there it can't be destroyed

Oh, and sometimes when it is there the target can't be destroyed. It's easy to tell the difference though, Just use the force...

No, they can't be without a mod. Period. There is no assigned hit point value in the ini files, and they don't have a health bar. If you really want them destroyable go here and download the file. Don't forget to get FLMM 1.1 too, it won't work without it.
