Best missle?

I think the best missle would have to ba the firestalker. The cannonball does more damage i know, but the firestalker just about always hits home with a lot of power. By the way, if you're a newbie, go for EMP missiles.

It depends on what you want; if you want to replace the torp launcher with a disruptor, but still want to have a heavy hitting weapon, you could go with the cannonball. If you want homing power, then you would choose the firestalker.

Are any missiles worth while late game? Iplayed around with missiles early on, but was never that impressed, and so gave up on them.

I generally keep a torp, instead of a cruise disruptor, certainly for playing against the AI. It's good for a few heavy shots on kill installation missions.

I really found no need for missiles after the SP campaign was over. A set of c10 weapons can do just as much (if not more) than a missile without the cost of the ammo. Still, a powerful projectile weapon can be useful for 'playing chicken'

it isnt jsut a good missile u need but a good weapons selection, i hhave two firestalkers and they can hit almost everything but only do about 800 shield damage so i use the energy cannon from tripoli shipyard(it does 1200 shield) after shields are down i shoot firestalkers and there dead

Personally i dont muck around with missiles. For a start i'm 2 tight to use them The though of shooting some NPC whore with several grand of my hard nicked cash brings a tear to my eye. Secondly, like mas' says, the c10's deal far more damage than most missiles - for free ! A full load out on a VHF hitting a target full on will actually deal more damage in one second/'tick' than a sunslayer (? - whatever the top torp. is, i dont use it).

However I have been checking out the LF's recently and was looking for a bit more punch - anyone use missiles as part of a LF load out?

I use the Cannonball missle on my Hammerhead VHF, as well as 1 Tizona and the rest are Various levels of particle blasters. Whether you choose a torp or disrupter is up to you, but without getting a Class 10 ship it's one of the heaviest loadouts you can get. Cannonballs are great if you fire them headon at an enemy. I've noticed though that if you don't time it right, you could end up hitting a wing or gun or something and deal less damage. Ammo isn't an issue when your rolling in cash, and lets face it, if you have Cannonballs, you have cash :p

I use slingshot missles to do the 40-70k missions in a defender.. the cost in firing them is recouped.. once you get a better ship though- you don't really need missles anymore for the missions..

Missiles are stupid. If you are going head on with another ship and you want to just pummel him down with your cannonball and shots, guess what, you cannonball just blow up right in front of you when the other shoots it..
Besides the launch speed is so slow.

a standard Phoenix missiles on the f14 flys at mach 5. Those standard heat seekers do mach 3. Most planes can only manuever under mach 1..

I'd say Sweeper EMP Missiles. Good cost effectiveness.

When you see the bogies coming head-on to you, pop a couple EMP's and they
arrive sans shields. They can't countermeasure them. Missiles have a further
range than any guns, gives you a way to hurt them from a distance as you close.

Best on HF but not VHF. Many HF run out of battery with 4 guns, so 2 slots open.

This is the best use I've ever found for Missiles. JMHO.

Cannonballs (good damage, expensive though)
And... not the Paralyzers but the nex best EMPs. Sweepers?
