it is possible to beat Hovis with just about any ship; it all depends on if yer good enough

The whole idea of the race p*ssed me off a bit. Here we are (supposedly) in the 31st century, out on a mission to save humanity -- and suddenly up pops bubba with his damned drag race! What thickie at Microsoft came up with that one? (Must have been watching old "Dukes of Hazard" reruns.) Plus the race course is virtually lifted right out of the old X-Wing fighter game.

All said and done, I wouldn't try to race Hovis in a freighter. Just too hard to control. A bit like racing a Jaguar in a bus.

Yes, it is possible with a Dromedary. We are at least two in this forum who have done it.

We are three; i did it yesterday. I was painful...

make that three people who did it in Drome...

Not to be chalanging anyone, but don't you have to be at a higher level then you are at that mission to fly the drome????

The Dromedary can be bought at Level 10. I think you are Level 11 when racing Hovis.

Winning in a Dromedary isn't that hard if you know the circuit and the ideal flying line.
I succeeded in the third try.

The first time I flew the race, I was in a Crusader HF. It took me two tries to win and he was ahead of me the first half.
The second time I flew in a Legionnaire LF. I beat him the first try and was in the lead the entire time.

Yeah, we all know that Hovis is scripted to screw up halfway so you can win, but the reason the LF has the advantage is because the cruise engines charge quicker than in the heavier ships. So those of you who won in a freighter, hats of to you!

I beat it in a drom on my first run through with no trouble, was very slightly behind Hovis until he messed up. I went a little wide on one sharp turn near the end, although if you don't panic, and yell "Turn baby, turn" your drom will make it through. I did read somewhere on the forums, I think in spoilers, that some people think there may be some kind of bug with this mission since there are alot of people who beat it really easily, and a lot that have a terrible time with it.

My friend was having trouble with it... but then i went round his house to help him and his game was running about 10fps i think this was his problem, seems to make it harder..
