ummm, kinda sorta rheinland is short of cash. they can't pay their own police and navy officers the salaries for months. and as you might very well know...

All of Rheinland's battleships were lost in the 80-Year's War; the sole survivor was the Westfalen. The battleships seen in SP were built with help from the Nomads, and when they were all destroyed, the Westfalen was still the only battleship left.

Yep. Westfalen is the only one of its kind now. Visiting Sigma-13 will show yu exactly what became of its sister ships. And you know what happened to all the ones in SP. Bits of Rhineland battleship are strewn alll over the Sirius sector. Chances are the Cruisers and Gunboats are their primary capitals(which is further illustrated in the fact that the Admiral whats-his-face in SP makes his doomed diplomatic mission in a cruiser).

the 80 year war was before the campaign, and there are DOZENS of battleships during the campaign when you try to get out van clausen, so the westphalen can't be the only one. maybe the keep them in a secret system, like alaska in liberty?

they couldn't have overun kusari in no time without a single battleship!

Didn't you read what i just posted? The Battleships seen in the campaign were made with the help from the nomads and were destroyed afterwords, leaving the Westfalen as the only remaining batleship.
