Some basic questions (have demo, not full game)

Hi, I apologize to mods if any of these questions have been covered already, but I didn't see them with a quick scan of topics.

1) Anyone out there use freighters? Obviously fighters are the focus of the game, but it seems to me like freighters are cool too, in that Millenium Falcon smuggler kind of way. And the turret mode rules. But the one freighter in the demo doesn't seem to be able to take abuse nearly as well as it can dish it out. So does anyone actually play freighters in the game itself?

2) Heavy fighers versus very-heavy fighters? Is this the sort of game where heavier=meaner=going to win? Or does the maneuverability of lighter designs actually ever pay off? Just curious, because I can only pilot light fighters in the demo.

3) How is multiplayer structured? This is one of those "it's soooo obvious unless you don't have the game" questions. Does one computer host and 4-12 others sign onto it to play a series of quick missions versus each other or computer drones? Or is it a massively-multiplayer online universe? Couldn't figure that out from this webpage or the official webpage, though I may have missed something.

Anyway, thanks very much for your help.

Getting tired of seeing this post with no reply.

1. fraighters are not fighters, dont expect them to handle like fighters. yes people do use them, just not to fight.

2. This question is based on personal opinon. the unfortunatly in this game there is a HUGE diffrence between the top 3 VHFs and any other ship. So if you want a good ship that can take out another player in a VHF you have to have one yourself. personally, I think there should be some high-level light fighters to balance the game but what do i know.

3. In multiplayer there are no missions other then the standard bar missions. So you can draw your own conclusions on that. The servers are alittle flaky at best.

This game badly needs more... don't get me wrong it is an awsome game but when you see features on the box the game came in that arn't in the game it makes you think that Microsoft had somthing to do with this... Oh, wait... they did! If DA decides to make a expantion the first thing they need to do is drop M$. Anyhoo, that's my 2 cents

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea for melting down coins to make a giant robotic parrot was a bad idea, I would have one kicka$$ giant robotic parrot.

Thanks! That really helped a lot.

I've noticed that there are more VHFs than just those three. And looking at the stats on this board, I can't figure out why a Bounty Hunter Hammerhead can't hold its own with an Eagle, Titan, or Sabre (the Abubis VHF just doesn't have the armor--that's obvious). Any reason? The Hammerhead sure is the coolest-looking of all of those.

I just completed the SP 2 days ago for the first time. The 1st time I played, I got a tad bit stuck trying to use a Bretonian Heavy Fighter. It could certainly dish out the abuse, but it took a pounding too, no matter how I tried to juke and dodge.

I restarted and tried it again, this time going the Light Fighter route. In the Light Fighters I found that dodging was much easier and that I rarely got hit. In fact, once I got the Kusari Drake I never used a shield battery again for the rest of the SP. I simply wasn't getting hit.

I don't know how true that would hold vs an experienced Human Player using engine kill maneuvers and flying backward and the like, though. I've seen some people say that nothing beats an "engine killed" Titan doing "spin moves."

Anyway, it was serviceable -- actually, more than serviceable -- in the SP.
