Targeting Cross may FOOL YOU!!!

While plaing freelancer i noticed odd and quite disturbing thing

When you have multiply types of Guns/Turrets on your ship with diffrent Projectile Speed (speed of the ray or whatever it is)
the red cross (the one that marks the place where to shoot to hit your target)
marks the place for the fastest guns turned on (marked green on right pannel)
It causes slower (on the begining of game usualy the mor destructive guns) to hit empty space and drain energy ONLY

Therefore you should Watch carefully if your guns have SAME projectile speed so that all guns are targetted propperly.

Hint: only attacking target that goes on collision course allows to forget about it
Hint: You may tur noff faster guns so that slower ones may target properly

I love the smell of fresh radioactive dust in the morning...

Got use to it. Wonder why the programmers wasn't smart enough to have the guns deflected at different angles (slower guns = more deflected) so you can use the same aiming clue.

yep. It would of been great to be able to have my c10 weapons along with some skyblast Bs. Although the salmanca mkII isn't too bad, I would rather have some skyblasts.

The aiming reticule is only a guide, you should after practice not have to use it, but Know when you can hit and when not.

Good way to practice is the munitions depot in NewYork and play with the Xeno's that are always swarming around it.

I don't think it was an oversite. I think it was a deliberate balancing effort so if you want the heavy heavy damage slow PS guns you have to commit to using slow PS guns or lose accuracy (or divide into weapon groups depending on how you're firing at your target). Just because you WANT to be able to outfit your ship with something doesn't make it an oversite that you can't.

A targeting system that gives you an aiming point that is supposed to miss unquestionably involves flaws. If you think the programmers used THAT for "balancing" then you underestimated their intelligence even more than I did.

Even if they were really dumb enough to exclude differential deflection for your "balancing" reason there was absolutely nothing stopping them from putting two or more targeting crosses like what the other group of programmers did for Privateer 1 TEN years ago.

Here's a wheel of cheese. Try not to cry directly on it, it will get soggy.

That should be a spoiler, dammit.

Everything goes boom if you jiggle the mouse while firing. From the reticle cross, sweep the reticle to like 2 mm in front of where the cross is( + 500m) to like 1mm behind and directly on the cross. Most everything should hit. BOOM!

If you are taking defelection shots (low percentage) you have already made a mistake. The human brain can figure parabolas at nearly the speed of light. Why trust in a few lines of code. Play with your eyes open and your monitor turned on and projectile speed will be meaningless.
