do i have to stay in the liberty system

I didn't finish the story yet. I'm at lvl 6 and i'm starting to trade with my rhino and i can't seem to get out of the liberty system. do i have to finish the SP first or later on in the middle of the game i am allowed to go outside the liberty system and trade. because if not then i'm gonna have to buy a ship soon for the SP. any recommendation on the ship i shuold buy right now?

The fun part of the game is testing different kind of ships that is available..

try buying the best frighter in the system. the more you can carry the more you sell and make back. the story advances based on the amount of money you need to make increase your worth and so will the game its up to you how you make your money but this is what i learned by playing. have fun.
