Dublin System

Howcome the Battleship Hood resides in the Dublin system!!?

Is this some type of insult towards the 1400 British sailors that died on that ship, considering the fact the Irish wouldn't give Britain any help in WW2, or allow any British troops to be stationed on Irish soil? Or is it another example of American ignorance?

Why isn't there a Cardiff or Belfast System in Bretonnia, to represent the people of Wales and Northern Ireland? Any British sleeper ship would include far more people from these regions than untrustworthy retards from southern Ireland, who are only good for tarmacking roads.

If I had a nickel for every time someone told me that my idea of building a giant robotic parrot out of melted down coins was a bad idea, I would have one kick a$$ giant robotic parrot.

It resides there because that's where they abandoned it.

Actually the Republic of Ireland did eventually allow British troops to be stationed on Ireland. They were allowing German ships to refuel and rearm at their ports, until Winston Churchill sent a detachment of Royal Marines over and surrounded the Irish parliment. The story goes that he was on the telephone to the Irish premier demanding that they stopped giving aid to the Germans. The Irish leader replied, "and what if I don't?" to which Churchill replied, "take a look out the of your window"

Hengist.

I learn more about history here than I do at school.

true that... learning more than what my history teacher can teach in prolly 5 years

clean clear simple and straight to the point history

I partially agree here!

Ok, there probably should be a Dublin system in Bretonnian Space, but there should also be a Cardiff System to represent Wales, and at least a planet named after a Northern Ireland location. As a Welsh person, I find it really insulting there's a system named after the Irish, Scottish and English capitals, but not the Welsh one. Seems to me like another example of Yank ignorance; how many Yanks have Welsh ancestry, and don't even realise?

Not as many as have Scottish or Irish.

I'm not entirely sure where you get your information; I can only assume that the Onion has a European history site I don't know of. In short:

The Irish provided the allies with details of German u-boat and ship movements, do you really think we were refeulling them?

Rearming battle cruisers implies we had a decent stash of arms. Have a google - we didn't.

You also assume that the Irish Parliment could have been surrounded by an invading army without anyone noticing. Does this seem realistic??

Regards the post - I don't know who teaches you history - but that post is about as realistic as Freelancers physics engine.

Whats really funny though is how people are buying it. My god.

its really funny how ppl make that much fuss about a game...

jesus, thats ridiculous.
imagine me as a german would complain about the name Rheinland and say "hey, i dont live near the Rhein, scr*w it, theyre discriminating me!"

instead im happy that theres a germany faction at all

Boohoo. Where's a midwest US system? I don't see planet Minneapolis or something, heaven forbid the game doesn't have everything.

Hey.. At least we got the Missouri. (Well.. Doesn't probably count for you but I live in Missouri) Liberty kind of got Shortchanged in the system layout anyway. They named their systems after the most populous states. New York, California, and Texas and Colorado. I guess Colorado was thrown in there because it seemed like Midwest. Then we got the useless Alaska system. Go figure.

FL is not historically correct. It happens in the future and is never meant to be a repeat of history. And stop this political flaming at once.

Post Sun Apr 27, 2003 9:48 pm

Hey, who said anything about political flaming. I was just correcting his (very) skewed form of history.

Bleh. There's no Bulgarian System, but I'm not complaining.
