Tractoring Beaming and single player missions

[1 When you blow up ships, sometimes you can tractor beam in weapons etc. Other times there is nothing. Is this due to me firing too much and blowing up what is dropped, or don't all ships leave stuff behind when destoyed?

[2 At the start you are asked whether you are interested in Juni's mission. If you say no, what happens? Do you keep the ship? Also, can you do missions for her later or if you say no at any point, that's it?

[3 How can a jump hole be blocked? Found 2 in an asteroid field near the Battleship that has the racetrack near it, and one was to New London, the other Leeds? but it said "access denied" when I tried to use it.

Loot: Sometimes ships don't leave anything behind.

Juni: If you say no, she'll just wait in the bar until you're ready.

Jump Gates: Many are blocked until you complete a specific mission. When you finish the 13 SP missions, everything will be unlocked.

I don't need no stinking dock ring. I'm sure if I hit the right angle and speed, I'll be fine.

Couple of additional bits:

[4 Is there anyway of skipping the endless single player cutscenes? Some go on for ages and having seen some of them a lot (after reinstalling due to formats, problems etc) they get tiresome......did manage to skip one by loading a previous game, then using the autosave of that mission for which the cutscene was for, but must be an easier way....tried all the keys but nothing.

[5 Only seen weapons up to level 6/7 so far and never had more than 1 level 5 so far.....taking this into account, if a weapon causes say 144 hull and 52 shield damage and is level 3, and a level 7 weapon does half the damage, is it always advisable to pick the weapon that does more damage, assuming similar range / energy usage? May seem a stupid question, but most of the higher level weapons don't seem to have high damage stats to be honest.....

Do wish they could add a decent autopilot into the game.......annoying using cruise engines and mouse lock in an asteroid / debris field only to hit something and go off course everytime you turn away from the pc!

Also hate the way you're flying along, a cutscene starts and you then get attacked, but you have to press space to be able to move your ship, and in this time, a salvo of missiles has hit you decimating your shields....

You should also be able to change priorities during a sp mission......hate it when you get sick of Juni etc, fire on them and you then have to reload the mission as you fail it....and the "we must go faster" bit which eventually results in a reload again even though you're taking out navy cruisers etc without any problems. "We were lucky to get out of there!" comes the response even though you've destroyed just about everything thrown at you.....

And what is the point of other ships helping you? 99% of the time they hit squat, cause no damage to any other ship and you end up destroying all 10 enemy ships yourself! To be honest, one ship I was fighting had about 1% hull left and another ship did manage to hit him for me once......

4). Hit escape. That skips regular cut scenes, but no, there is no way to skip teh Juni SP mission cut scenes.

5) Can't help. Don't know much about weapons.

Autopilot: are you hitting the goto button at the top (2nd from left). This will move you out of the way of most big obstacles and if you are knocked off course it will bring you back, as long as your not in mouse flight mode (ie can't steer unless your press the left mouse button). The thing I wish is that you could have it auto pilot all the way to your final waypoint. That would be handy.

Mission Priorities: Any mission (SP or freelancing) takes priority over everything else. If they tell you to fly somewhere go, don't worry about anything else in the area.

Ships helping: I agree they don't help all that much usually, though they do tend to draw enemy fire away from you at times.

5) One thing that you need to also take into account is the refire rate... the larger it is, the more .... particles of harmful energy (?) that your weapons emit over the chosen period which is rounds per minute (sorry to get slightly technical...must be from working at NASA).

The higher the rounds per minute (rpm) the lower the overall damage for each round will be...but the per second damage should be about that same as any similar weapons. Just really depends on whether you want to pack a big punch but not have as good of a chance to hitting things (lower rpm's) vs. having a greater chance of hitting the target but trading off the amount of damage that you will do for each round hitting their ship.

But that's up to you...if you're a fairly good shot then you might want to go with something that has a lower refire rate....that's just something that you will have to flesh out for yourself....

When choosing weapons, its also important to look at projectile speed and keep them all the same or similar. If you have a Laser at 700m/s and a Blaster at 600m/s your targeting will all go to pot and you will find that you miss with BOTH.

RE:Autopilot
what the other poster said about goto is correct, you just need a waypoint or at least a target to "goto" to if you want to go somewhere but don't have a waypoint or some other target to goto, simply open up your map and make a waypoint at the location you want to go to (alternativly, just use the map to target a base/jumpgate/tradelane to goto) and hit "goto". presto! autopilot works

the game is balanced so the best weapon is the most exepencive one (watch out for pulse canons though).
