Wasted time on "Persistant" servers ?

How about you ? ...and is there a solution ?
I have spent up to 20 hours each developing characters on 4 different servers.
I got on this morning and AGAIN ..not ONE was up.
This does not count servers I know I have played on but no longer show me as having "Played" on.
Solutions I have tried are trying to only pick servers such as "university" servers and game site servers but even those are down.

Any other tricks ? ...and a plee for Administrators to describe what kind of server it is. IE. is "Freelancer Purdue" or MIT REALLY on a 'univeristy' computer.

The flip side is the topic of "pervert" servers that are nothing but chat rooms for freaks..... "The Scatt Server, Fling your Phoo here" and White Cotton Panties comes to mind. Some minds need washing Should be a way to filter those out for the kids.

It would have been nice if there was a way to import and export characters onto a server, but that would have probably made it even easier to cheat.

First I go by ping and location, then I go by word of mouth from other players. Doesn't take long to find a few people that know of some good local or at least low pinging servers.

So get talking in the servers. As most people dont bother in the servers, so it's there loss.

NB if your gonna chat make it private or join them as a group then you dont annoy everyone else. Unless you have some lvl 10's going cheap or free

I had a server that ran smooth, only about 30ish ping, and now its gone. Too bad. That really annoys me, i spend a couple hours trying to get out of liberty even, and then the next day the server's gone (Yes, i use the filters to find used servers).

Think the patch that's coming out will help out in keeping the 24/7 servers up for longer periods than they are now?
