no, you got it backwards Gnavpot... before the last SP mission, it shows the amount you need to get to the next level... after.. it shows the absolute amount u need to be worth before u get to the next level...
so System, i'm guessing either you've encountered a bug, or it's switched for your version or something...
if no matter what you do it won't let u gain levels, try to get a trainer, switch on an "unlimited money cheat," and trade your ship in... usually, the trainer will kick in once you make some kinda transaction.. meaning if you had 500credits, and you trade your ship in, the trainer will kick in and it'll say you now have a whole lot of money (one trainer gave me 9999,999,999.. yes i typed that correctly, 9 thousand millions)... the game will think you're such a great trader to have gained so much money, and will increase your net worth by a whole lot, thus hopefully making you level 38
(for the record, i don't use/prefer to use/endorse the use of trainers to make the game "easier" or to "get ahead".. i've only used it once, and that was to catch up to my original position because one night i was bored, and i loaded some single player mission saves and looked at my navmap to see if i can find the locations of the Hyper Gate or the Nomad Home World to revisit them in my regular game... but as you might have guessed, the Autosaved kicked in and i lost all my progress.. so i got a trainer and tried to use the unlimited money cheat to buy back my ship and all the weapsons i had before, which was when i found the Level 38 trick)
