Turrets and the lead targeting reticle

Do turrets (or anything else for that matter) figure into the lead redicle's average when they are active but not aimed within the weapon's firing arc?

You mean like when you have a rear-firing turret that can't aim forward, right? I don't know the answer, but I never mount one on my Eagle anyway just in case...I never used it when I did have one anyway, so I figure I'm not really missing anything.

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. I've never noticed much of a problem if I keep the differences in projectile velocity to about 50-100 m/s, but I just want to know.

Answer your own question with weapon groups.

Group the turret to one key and the rest of your weapons w/o turret to another. Then align yourself with a target traveling parallel to one another about 500meters away.. and keep switching between the groups. Watch how the redicle moves and you will have your answer.

The reticule thing tries to compensate for all your weapons differences in speed.

All my weapons travel at the same speed. All my weapons head streight for the reticule thingamabobber.

I'm not a newbie, I understand that the lead reticle averages the necessary deflection of only the active weapons... My question is if weapons not aimed in their firing arcs are calculated in, as well. I don't see how your suggestion addresses this.

If you are not certian if they are calculated in.. Simply run the test I suggested above.

If you make one group with the turret and one group without the turret.. And switching back and forth reveals no reticle change.. Then either your turret is the same speed, or it's not "calculated in"

Hmm, I think I see what you meant, but wouldn't it be better to use a group of all weapons and a group of all weapons except the turret? Obviously, if the turret has a different projectile speed than the normal guns (which it does in my case) the lead reticle will move if I switch between a group of just guns and a group of just the turret.

Yes, a group w/ and a group w/o the turret is your best bet for testing this.

Give it a shot. I'm rather curious myself what the results will be. I've done similar tests and found that using things like Nomads and Skyblast together can produce really poor results at certain angles/trajectories.

But I still haven't done an Eagle turret test.. I've had the same thought as you, but damn, am I lazy or what? Haven't tested it yet. My turret only has a 50m/s difference anywho. But I will probably most definitely run this test tonight.

Yeah, the higher the deflection angle the more all of this matters. But for most condititions the difference is so minimal (the speeds average to something like 614 m/s) that even with Nomad weaponry and a Skyblast turret out of its firing arc it's not hard to hit things with the Nomad guns... Especially in those chicken runs the AI loves.

Actually.. Can't test it right this moment. But I think the reticle will disappear if you only have the turret on an Eagle selected. try only selecting the turret. If the reticle disappears. it's safe to assume the turret is not factored in.
