Pirate - Good or Bad??

Everyone seems to want to be a pirate... I used to. I spent ages trying to get 'friends' with them after the first mission and when I did I got some cash and did the second mission. Because it involves you taking out the Rogues they hate you again! And after Mission 4 (I won't spoil it) they don't like just because the (u know I don't wanna wreck it) don't like you. Being a Pirate in Liberty is practically impossible, unless you're not gonna do any of the missions.

Is it possible to stay on the Rogues' Good Side till Mission 4? If so I'd like to hear it.

Being a Pirate in Bretonia is fine, though. No worries there.

I think to pirate you usually want to finish the SP missions and then be pirate, because the game automatically changes your faction ratings to suit the missions.

hmm...doesn't really give you a sense of 'do what you want' does it?

Maybe if I get my rep. really high with the Rogues they'll still like me after Missions 2 and 3?

And what I think's a bit stoopid (I know i'm bitchin now btw) is that you can't go anywhere until later on in the game, when your rep. may not be what you want it... just a cycological area. Correct me if I'm wrong

If you want to play without doing the missions, then you'll want to play multiplayer -- either on an online server or on a local server running on your own machine. If your goal is to be a pirate from level 1, then you'll want to take this approach. If you want to play through the SP missions then forget about being a proper pirate until the missions are done-- the missions don't just nudge your rep, it actively changes your rep. So you may spend a big piece of time getting your reps just right, then play a mission and all that time will be wasted.

You can be a "bad" pirate or "good" pirate. It just depends who you choose to "pirate" from.
