is it possible to kill any battle ships in multiplayer or will it always say no battle ship kills in the player profile?

Sorry, mate. You can only kill capital ships in single player.

Head over to the mod forum if you seriously want to kill battleships in multiplayer. There is a tutorial on how to hack the ini files to set up the random encounters.

Isn't Reynen working on a mod with fully destructible bases/ships etc...?
