Yes, read the descriptions. Some of the planets you land on are moons of the 'larger' gas giants. Its just the size in this game is messed up so its hard to tell the difference.

another thing, why aint the planets circulating around the sun??? and if they did the trade lanes wount go to the right place? erm..

Think very carefully about how long it takes Earth to orbit the sun. Now think logically how many game manufacturers want to make a game where they have to have a calender to set up the positions of the planets around the sun. And then where would all your tradelanes go you couldn't travel from planet to planet as easily now could you. Which if your like me would piss you off because i don't feel like spending 15-20 minutes traveling to a planet in normal space when i can do it much faster through the tradelanes.

Actually most game developement teams simply avoid the problem by adding faster-than-light capable technology to the game. Freelancer is one of the few which actually goes about this differently.

For example, StarWars has hyperdrive, Star Trek has warp drive, Freespace series feature jump drive, and Independece War series have both LDS (for sub-light propulsion, although the speed is actually 100C due to time compression???) and Jump Gates (inter-system travel).

also.. we're in another galaxy here..... maybe in this galaxy, planets don't need to revolve around the sun hmm?

Post Wed Apr 16, 2003 8:50 am

Maybe the revolution of the planets are already taken into account by the tradelane gates and your navigation computer?

prehaps the jumpgates also rotate around the sun at the same rate as the plannets.
