The right Track ***forbidden spoiler content***

Hi there :-)

Just working my way through the SP missions - On Mission 7 (after the race with Hovis) Just a tad worried that I now have the wrong level of ship - Still flying a Crusader and now getting beat up a little more :-( Should I be flying a better one by now ( also taking into consideration what parts of the system I can feasibly get to and also the people I can deal with) ?? I'm level 11 or 12 but I can't seem to find a better ship around.

Just keep on flyin' with this baby ?

Cheers,
ScottyB

You can find the Barracuda on most Kusari planets, for about $71,000. You Won't find a better ship than the Crusader while you're in Bretonia space.

I used the Crusader a mission or two into the next section with no problems. I then upgraded to a Dragon. What's your weapons configuration like?

Thanks for your replies :-)

My current weapon setup is a bit of a mix and match while I'm still experimenting between different re-fire, energy drain and damage rates.

2 * Drail Mk 3
Angelito Mk 1
2 * Dublin Duster Mk 1
Avenger

Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers :-)

You might consider using guns of one type rather than mixing and matching. When you're using an assortment of guns, with different refire rates, you're targeting reticle may not be as accurate as it is when all weapons are the same.

Another thing that you may want to consider that may be even more important than your gun selection is your defense. Let's face it, at any one time, you can only be shooting at one ship. But, at this same point in time, you may have five or six enemies with you in their reticle. So, it's imperative that your ship hold together long enough for you to get out of the jam that you're in and your shields are the key to keeping you in the game.

There are three different types of shields, Graviton, Molecular, and Positron. Graviton shields work best against laser, photon, and pulse weapons. Molecular shields provide the best protection from plasma and particle weapons. Positron shields protect best against tachyon and neutron weapons. Within each shield type, there are three additional types, Light Fighter, Heavy Fighter, and Freighter.

As you have probably figured out, by now, there are seven different weapons types which are used by the various factions. Each faction will use only one or two types of weapons, but what weapons they use will determine what shield you should be using. You should buy a shield, of each type. Then, when you are looking for missions, take notice of the enemies that you will encounter and equip your ship with the appropriate shield before you launch.

Below, I've listed some of the factions and the weapons that each faction uses:

Blood Dragons Laser
Corsairs Neutron, Pulse
Gaians Photon
Golden Chrysanthemums Photon
Lane Hackers Tachyon
Liberty Rogues Laser
Mollies Neutron
Outcasts Tachyon, Particle
Red Hessians Plasma, Laser
Rheinland Plasma, Tachyon
Unioners Neutron
Xenos Particle
Zoners Photon

Remember, "the best offense, is a good defense."

I have found that the most important factor in choosing a weapon setup is to be sure all weapons are the same projectile speed. If they aren't, the aiming cross is set for your fastest proj. wep, so all the rest will miss, and this can be a big mess. Having the right shield is important too, but be sure that the ones you use are all the best you can get, you don't wanna switch from a class 6 grav to a class 4 molecular.

And the saying is that "the best defense is a good offense" not the other way around...
