Having set up a route, there should be an auto-pilot that just follows the plotted course. It is a real pain always selecting the next "trade lane"/"jump gate" and then dock.
The route planner:
SHOULD NOT plan routes through unknown/unexplored space
SHOULD use known jump holes when calculating a route
