Lots o'' questions

Hey all,

I'm really enjoying this game, but I have a ton of questions regarding various things going on. I would appreciate anyone who can help me out here.

1) On Turrets:
I was under the impression that turrets, whenever I could finally mount them, would track enemy targets and fire automatically, but it just appears that they're glorified laser mounts that I fire in my array like any other weapon. Is this all to turrets, or can I turn them over to computer control somehow?

2) On Thrusters:
When I upgraded to heavy thrusters the statistics said that I would have an increaced maximum speed, but I'm still poking about at 80/300. Why even upgrade? What benefit should I get from thrusters and is there something I have to do get it? Can I ever move faster?

3) On Mining:
Is mining just the process of shooting those little floating "boxes" and hoping they drop out something to tractor? So far, (Colorado and New York) mining can't hold a candel to the money I make in trade running. Is there something I don't understand here, or is mining just that weak and/or boring?

4) On Single Player:
Are the missions really supposed to come in this fast? I can make perhaps one transaction before I have to go run another mission for Judy. I'm VERY behind in technology on my fightercraft and am really struggling to keep up in combat. Will this pace ever change, or should I get used to being the underdog because the SP games moves to fast for me to cope financially?

Thanks in advance, and help here will be greatly appreciated.

First I have to say, RTFM FFS YOU ...

now after flaming abit,

1.turrets do not autotrack, they just fire where you aim, some can do fire forward aswell, some you can just use in turret view ... or in view back (press and hold v)

2. thrusters are your afterburners, SO PRESS TAB FFS to use them.

3. yeah mining is that weak and borning, though there are some areas where it is at least alittle bit profitable ...

4. yes they are, you just suck flying, you are supposed to not switch fighters more than twice, maybe 3 times till you get the "free" anubis from *spoiler*.

though you can at the beginning decline a mission from judy, and make some more money first, so the game gets even more easy for you.

#1 Turrets are controled manualy; there is no way to switch them to automatic. However, they are not just like regular guns in that they can aim to the sides and/or behind your ship.Go into turret view (default key H) and you'll see what I mean. Turrets are only really useful on freighter, however.

#2 The thrusters are what power your afterburners. To activate your afterburners, press and hold tab (default key). You can only use the Ab for a short time, after which it must recharge. Upgrading your thrusters won't make your afterburners faster, it will make them more efficient.

#3 there is nothing you're missing; mining is essentialy flying to a minable zone, sitting there and blowing the chunks of rock up, tractoring in whatever comes out, and then selling it. If you really want to, you can go ahead and mine; but it is not the most effective way to get money...

#4 In order to get more jobs from Juni (it's Juni, not Judy) you must attain a certain set amount of money. After you have reached that amount, you gt called in for another job. Therefore, it is really YOU who controls how much time there is between missions. If you want more time, just don't get money as fast. And make sure to upgrade your ship; it's usualy a good Idea to upgrade your ship before and after a story mission.

Apocalypse needs to have his forum rank changed to Major Asshole. Dude, chill the fek out. Telling him his flying sucks? do you come to forums like this to play bully as a means to compensate for a RL inferiority complex?

Turrets while not able to "auto aim" are not totally useless. You can go to "V" default and shoot toward an attacker at the rear of your ship it can at least make them veer off of you so you can get some shields back. You can decide not to take the missions right away so you can make some "extra" cash to allow you to upgrade your stuff before you face certain death. Always try and explore as much as you can before you accept the next SP mission you will thank yourself later. As I have posted before don't be in such a hurry to finish the game that you miss out on the experience that is Free Lancer. You may have read some of the comments in other forums posted here and as you can tell while all may not agree they at least agree that this is one of the better games to come along in some time. So Sit back relax and enjoy the experience. Just some thoughts from the edge of space.

Her name is "Juni".
The ranks are assigned by the forum, not the poster. If only you could advance at work in real life by posting garbage... Oh wait... some people do...

I would like the forum rank change, though nothing to do with any real life ...
and btw if he got problems with the missions HIS FLYING SUCKS.
That is a simple fact. get beaten? why? cause you are bad!
what to do about? get better!

I wonder why you btw postet at all? get beaten up by the bullys at school to often and want now to fight for freedom of all forums in the world to compensate

As stated by pressgod, you don't have to go straight to Juni after advancing a level. I sometimes do a few more trade runs to up my financial reserves and buy a better ship/weapons before I go off to meet up with Juni.

The mining thing is IMHO only useful if you at some point in the game, have invested all of you cash in a cargo and got jumped/wasted. Then you can mine to get at least a bit of cash together if you not willing to do missions.
