Every now and then, weird attacks like that can happen out of the blue, even if you're green with the folks in question.

Jump to another system, or enter a base that's friendly, then go back.

In my experience, there's always a reason for their hostility. If you didn't have any, ah, "mishaps" where you accidentally shot at the friendly faction that turned hostile, here's what probably happened: the friendly faction turned hostile because they are allied with a faction that is hostile to you. This kind of temporary hostility is due to an "ally assist" request from the faction that is hostile towards you to the other faction, and only happens when units belonging to both factions are nearby.

That's probably what happend, Some Repulican Ships were in the area at the time and during that point I was hostile towards them.

I did a mission for the outcasts from a junkers base and had to wipe out some mollys
As i came close to the Junker base on my way back ,i noticed some junker ships showed up red in my scanner
I thought i missed a pirating message and continued to the station where i was jumped by junkers outcasts and mollys at the same time
The Junker faction still showed positive neutral after i limped away with half shields and no batterys
after i finally found a station to dock it suddenly changed to red
Still didn't find out the reason since i was doing a mission against mollys and they are not allied with junkers or outcasts

This happens when someone who hates you shows up in a area neutral or allied to you both. The agreeved party will send out a message to all its allies in the area (including any bases/docking rings) and they will all go hostile. once they are dealt with things go back to your normal faction status untill it happens again, EXCEPT I havent seen any docking rings or stations revert to normal status.

This happened to me in Bretonia. I am hated in Kasuri (sp) and Satsuma shipping is regularly found in bretonia space. every time we meet every neutral/friendly instalation in the area goes hostile, unless its already hostile to satsuma. This happens even though the bretonian police kiss the ground i walk on in the faction list.

Is the hostiltiy of the docking rings timed or something? Id sure like to be able to land on leeds again.
