Did you make a point in your post? I kinda seem to have missed it,...

Of course he had a point... well, let's see... he's in England and he's already playing the game for ages even though it isn't officially released there yet. Furthermore he's completed the story and he's gonna terrorize servers with his clan mates, which is great and we have to look out for --{LPA}-- clan tags in a system near us. Well... hm... ok....no, there is no point whatsoever.

Clans continue to baffle my mind. I have not, nor am likely to ever be part of a clan.

My friend and I set up a nice size LAN party at his office once. There were the two of us and about 5 or 6 of our friends who enjoy the occasional gaming session. In addition, one of our friends had invited a group of people he sometimes games with. This "group" turned out to be one of these so-called "clans". So there were about 14-16 of us gaming, playing CounterStrike or something. At any rate, this stupid clan took over and managed to kill everyone else in mere seconds, again and again and again and again. It was unbelievably frustrating. I asked them how often they game and the average was about 4-6 hours per DAY!!! OMG!! And they didn't seem to be having any fun. It was simply point and kill and start over. Eventually we shut the whole thing down, not because we were losing, but because the constant losing to this unrelenting clan was the complete opposite of fun. Maybe some of you would say we were poor losers, but the comparison would be like a parapalegic playing a little one-on-one with Michael Jordon. Can you see the fun? Niether can I.

Anyway, please tell me all "clans" are not like that. These guys were arrogant pricks whose lives seemed to revolve around playing games. No, not "playing" games, winning them. At all costs. Even at the cost of fun.

I won't even begin to discuss the complete lack of social skills...

Anyway, there's my rant on clans based on a one-time experience. Please tell me clans are not so flippin' annoying.

As always...

My friends and i once had a similar experience with a "pro gaming" clan. Obviously they considered the LAN party as some sort of aiming practice for their "job". The only difference was: when we started to keep up with them they really got pissed. No fun people, i can tell you that. But to defend clans in general: there are lot's of clans that only play for fun and nothing else.

I have seen lots of clans that think it's great fun to simply own everyone they come across. They don't like it if they aren't the best though. It seems that if they can't STOMP you, they hate you. Then they accuse you of cheating, cuz no one can be as good as them. Dumba$$es.

I took it in and installed it on out master and there was a great response and now its near the date all i hear is "When we getting freelancer?" We have 20 members willing to play this game online, im currentley working on a few mods too, gonna have our own server with our own sysem and possibly ships too

A clan is just a little communty of gamers.
How they play depends on the clan, and the goals of the clan.

Most clans are about competive gameplay, which means they try to get as good as they can. So you were simply not really good opponents for them. Can´t you understand why someone may act like an arrogant prick if he can beat you even with closed eyes? The only fun left in such a game is making jokes, cause its no challange for them, and no fun for you.
Simply the wrong ppl that play at this lan party together.

So please stop complaining about the so called "pro-gamers" or "powergamers", they are still just all looking for a challange (ok some for the money aswell), and it is as frustrating for them as it is for you if they get the wrong opponents.

Sure you can meet there real idiots aswell, but what is so special about an idiot?
You meet more idiots that are not powergamers than you meet powergamers at all
simple cause there are alot more players that do not have the time, will or skill to play at those high levels.
