perishable?

Is there a problem with highly perishavle commodities? is it that u have say, 50 mins/5 stops before they become worhtless junk? i want to do an alien organism trade run, and dont want to waste lots of money on it if i will not be able to make it to the destination in time...

The more cargo you have the better. Once the item gets to 0 it just takes one out of your cargo hold and starts over.

so it's a kind of gradual decrease?? 1 by 1 u lose ur cargo until it's all gone?

You know that green status bar below every good? With those alien organisms, it shrinks until it is gone. Thats minus 1, then the next one starts to get damage untill this one is also gone. Minus one, so two are gone untill now.. and so on.

Here's a metric for how long they last if you need one.... If I get 250 units of Lux Food on New London I can usually make it to Manhatten with between 242 - 245 units remaining that I can sell. That would be assuming that I don't get stopped and attacked by any ships along the way...

I expect you perishable traders realise, but if you stop at each station along the way you can sell and rebuy the goods (0 net cost) and it will reset the status bar to full.

You still loose any units that you totaly lost, but damaged goods are repaired.

I suppose the selling/rebuying of perishables would be considered cheating by some. I would consider it more like using the better resources of the port for maintaining the perishables while docked there much like an aircraft using a ground-based airconditioner before kicking on its own systems.

Ooh, good idea. Never thought of that. I've never bothered buying any perishables before (more of a smuggler myself ), but I might start now.
