can I ignore SP and still explore outside of liberty

I was thinking that I'd like to do my own thing and the hell with missions.
BUt will I ever be able to get out of liberty all of the jump gates I get accessed denied.

This should be in the spoiler forum so I'll be vague:

There will come a time when you can leave Liberty. When that happens, all the artificial restrictions are gone (like jump holes that say "access denied"...). When that happens, you can travel anywhere and ignore the SP story all you would like, except that some SP missions are required to go up in levels.

I would suggest playing the multiplayer side of Freelancer. This should allow you to progress and travel to the various systems while still being able to level-up according to how much money you have. And of course when you level up (as I'm sure you know) you get access to the better weapons, equiptment, shields, ships, etc... then you can go back to the SP storyline if you want and pickup where you left off.

Personally I thought the SP toryline was well worth it, but if you want to go off and do your own thing then MP would be one of the better routes probably...

Yeah i liked storyline, but what i dont get is that microsoft say that u can completely ignore the storyline and evrything will go on wivout u, when that dosent happen, and wat does happen if u decline a story mission?

If you decline a storyline mission then Juni or whomever you're suppopsed to meet should be there waiting for you when you get back and want to take the mission...

The only restriction is that you need to do key single player missions to advance in level and that without advancing in level you won't live long in some of the more dangerous bits of space because you won't be able to buy the right ships/gear.

But you can delcine missions or just not respond to Juni's summons and it won't affect your status in the single player game. She'll just wait for you.

If you really wnat to bypass the single player missions just fire up the multiplayer server app that comes with the game and play on your own multiplayer server. You can do this quite happily without ever letting anyone else into the game.

Yes, you can either just start up a private Freelancer server and play on it yourself, or if you have a slower computer, download the No Story Mod in our download page and it will disable the story components of the game and unlock all the gates.

I've only done the SP version so far and have ignored the story missions several times to build up cash. One time I remember leaving Juni at the station in the Kusari region and went about raising cash. When I came back to take her mission, although we moved on into the story, she initially wasn't very happy with me ;-) Good to see her a bit pissed, what a pouty little face she made!

I wish you could skip through the videos. Esp if have already sat through them once. Some of them are really long... I don't know what they were thinking making everything unskippable. That is what really bothers me about the SP story missions besides the fact that you are forced to do them if you want to level.

If you really want to ignore the story there are mods available to enable all jumpgates and disable the story... this gives you all the freedom in the galaxy right from the beginning
