Totally pisses me. I can be coming out of a trade lane with a massive firefight going on around me. But as soon as any of my 'hostiles' see me, they instantly disengage from their targets and go after me till I reach another trade lane or dock. Empty cargo or not. Just watching these idiots shoot their little relative bbguns at my shields.
That and the constant crashing made me uninstall the game. I wanted to keep playing till I had every weapon just incase there's an expansion later on that continues your current game but bah.

lol...when I was trying to raise rep with hackers/outcasts/rogues/corsairs for a dromedary, I sat by a trade lane with my humpback and left it in turret mode, blasting the lane whenever it went back up. The fighters only started getting shield damage in when there were about 20or so of the darned things.
Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

It depends how far into the red your rep is with the certain faction. If it's only slightly red, even if you're full of cargo, and you jump in to an area where a firefight is going on, most of them will ignore you and keep going after their previous targets. However, if you're on full red with them, even if they're flying a Starflier, even if your cargo is empty, they'll concentrate all your fire on you. Hey, you earned it
Lane hacking and killing transports is the best way. Try to do it to factions that are friendly with you, so that they don't turn hostile. I did that when I was going for a dromedary, and the corsairs were among the first to become neutral with me(right after lane hackers, but before outcasts and rogues).
