I find this odd

I find it hard to believe that every advanced ship in Freelancer is only sold on a base controlled by a group or faction that is either an outlaw, enemy of a state and that the single player part of the game almost sets you up to be enemies with them...This is especially odd that military bases/ports/ships don't have this vessels or anything close to them. In any event i am nearing the ability/level to acquire a sabre class on malta (trying to get in good favor with the hessians would take days......i've killed more of them that there are asteroids in the entire game).....So just how do i get in favor with the Outcasts. I'm not used to RPG style elements in a game and am completely unfamiliar with this 'reputation' that is used in the game other than it's obvious meaning. So can some one tell me how i would go about it....getting in god favor with them. I've got 4 class 10 energy weapons that i found and i am just dying to use them.

Thanks

Hessian are enemies of the Outcast. I played some (maybe 4 or 5) missions against Hessian (it was in Dresden system) and the Outcast became neutral to me. Another option is to find someone to bribe for your reputation, that should cost no more than...say about 150k credits.

Hope that helps a bit.

I wont comment much on that "only pirates have good ships" thing, but I agree with you, it's strange.
(although one has to mention the "Eagle", a c10-ship that _can_be bought at a civilian base - it's the one in my sig and I just love it. )

As for the outcasts... well, either kill a lot of Xenos (they are enemies of the Outcasts and you wont suffer any consequences because Xenos have no 'friends' whatsoever) or bribe an NPC to hack your reputation with the outcasts. The location of an appropriate hacker can be found in the "rep-hack-list" post in the "FL spoiler forum" here on this site.

I wont post it since this is the normal discussion board here.

Ok this is great. I only have a few more questions. Where can ifind these xenos? Also, about the eagle. I have seen it and agree that it is a nice ship. However, i like the sabre for obvious reasons (its one of the better looking if not the best looking ship in the game). One thing i have noticed about space sim games recently is that the ship designs absolutely suck. Frieghters are supposed to look bulky and ugly but not fighters.....they are at least supposed to be sleek. With the excwption of the anubis, defender, sabre and a few others which i forgot the names to(and the variants of the ones mentioned) the ships designs are ugly. And some of them could be fix with minor adjustments.....such as the the first ship you start out with in Single player....if its cockpit wasn't angled down so much it wouldn't look so bad....the same with sever of the other ships in the game. And what a about the capital ships.....why must these games make large ships seem like submarines......It's just my opinion that these ship developers should use more imaginative ship designs like those from wing commander (ahhh the good ol days)....freespace....and a few others i can imagine. Anyways, enough of my ramblings.....even with its lack of imagination in design (in my opinion) this is the best space sim since its predecessor starlancer. I absolutely loveit and can't wait to have my fully loaded sabre ready to wreak havoc

Peace

Xenos can be found in teh Kepler&Colorade systems. Be warned, they are weak but extremely nimble. No real threat to a well-equipped pilot but you can get headaches following their darting moves.

think of the xenos as undernourished gaians... they both use civilian ships, both arent very hard to kill, but are so damn fast and zip circles around a heavy fighter in no time....

I know the faction listing for Xenos says they have no enemies, but after killing loads of them, my faction with the Zoners has dropped considerably. I repeatedly checked the list after I killed a large number of Xenos, and nothing else, and the Zoner faction kept dropping. Oddly, IMG faction didn't change.

I think that the Zenos are neutral with the Zoners.
Personally, I always liked the Star Destroyer look for a capship, but then, I like most Star wars stuff.

Ah yes, a Nostromo Class freighter would rock too =)

Ok thanks, i shall use this info and conquer. Just found out a couple days ago that the Anubis turret can fire forward.....all this time i had been neglecting the ability to have more firepower....I do have a question also concerning the use of turrets.....what good are they if they are not automated.....how can you fly the ship and fire the turrets at the same time?i tried doing this with a freighter and either i am very bad at it or it is insane...but the end was the same(i died). Maybe i am asking alot for a freighter to take on 6 stillettos........Oh and i have one MAJOR grievance....what in Gods name were the devs thinking when they programmed every enemy ship in an area to target the player?!?!?! I jump into a system and i have 6 ships completely ignore their previous targets and fire at me before i can even move my ship (i think that whole jumping sequence should eliminate that 2 second delay before you can engage engines, move or fire). I was actually destroyed for the first time cause i jump into a system and was sipping my drink and before i even had control of my ship i had lost my shields...and i didn't last more than 15 seconds after that even after restoring my shields. Definately a problem that has been witnessed by others so i amdefinately hoping they are working on it.....i can imagine 2 or 3 ships out of maybe 10 breaking off....maybe i killed thier brother or something hehehe

Peace
