Done with it.

You can go ahead and delete this post if you are into major censorship. This forum is to try and improve FL not to give MSFT extra sales on a poorly designed product and kiss their ass.

Well, FL has come to a dead end. There is nothing to do in FL multiplayer after you get the best guns/ship/shield/missle than just go around taking missions that you can do with your eyes closed and after 10 shots of vodka and shoot the same **** over and over again.

I already submitted some of these things and suggestions for improvement to MSFT and DA, hoping they will take me up on it. It wasnt as sloppy, and nicely written, and some of the math done for taxation/weapons/shields/tradeing/econ-balance.

So far this is the verdict from myself and a few other players i played with in MP. Everyone knows the good stuff, so ill just tell you the bad stuff.

I was one of the original testers for Warcraft 3, Starcraft: Brood War, C&C, Civilization Series, Mechwarrior 3-4. Im the reason for quite a few changes in Brood war and War 3, so i know what im talking about.

-AI too easy and too stupid.

-Dead end but very pretty game, thats about it. There is nothing open ended about it except reputation and how fast you get bored.

-No point of trying to be friendly with anything or anyone, since you can kill everything and anything that comes at you.

-in MP i get tired of killing people, you get nothing, they lose nothing. You got no reputation change, nothing. Need a point of NO RETURN in reputation.

-economy is static and boring, so are the missions, trading, pirates, police. Reputation is easily altered, even in MP. Nothing to do with millions you get. After you get the guns/ship/shields the entire universe is like a big joke, even the nomads.

-not much thought was put into weapons/damage/equipment in general. Its all the same sh1t but on different levels of power. Pretty dissapointing.

-the number of redundant weapons is staggering. no variety of hardpoints or the purpose of weapons to actually make MP killing a challenge, basically a more complex and fun balance of power among weapons and ships is totally lacking. No special gear/guns (NOT OVERPOWERED GEAR..there is plenty of that), the stuff that actually makes Mp and PvP combat fun.

-leveling is a joke and so is depth of gameplay and replay value.

-repetitive and boring

-in short, the game lacks goals beyond a certain point. When you have no goals, there is no point in playing anymore. It offers no challenge whatsoever, unless you are a super newbie and couldnt hit the broad side of a battleship.

In conclusion its a game for ages 9-15, who want super weapons/super ships fast and easy, and dont really care about anything other than blowing up everything. Game needs depth of play/trade/combat/rep, replay value, points of no return,in other words MORE SUBSTANCE is a MUST. Pretty pictures only go so far...a very short distance. Unless DA does an expansion to the game, i wont play it again, and its gonna sit on the shelf until then.

Ciao

PS - Everyone modding everything just points a big fat finger at the poor thought DA put into this game, except its graphics and SP storyline. Great concept and engine, very poor implementation.

Congrats, you beat Freelancer.

You know, no game can last forever.

As for you seeming to dislike it... you obviously played it enough to completely finish it. Kinda strange IMO - do you have much of a life? I ask only because you spent enough time to totaly finish a game you seemingly hated.

Posts like this are the most assinine hypocritical bull crap I've ever read. You just want attention.

Mods, I suggest you lock this as you do every other thread like this. He's just seeking attention.

Xaanix, I think you need to insert the word "boring" into the feedback more often.

Right now, I'm not sure what you really think of it.

However, I do think I'm approaching being "done" with FL too. Course, that's at the end of 80 or so hours of play. So I can live with that.

Xaanix, you obviously screwed yourself. You can't even TRAVEL to the all the best places for ships and weapons in 30 min, let alone survive the enemies, hack you rep, and pay for the items in that time...unless you read spoilers or cheated your way through. I know the story's short, but there's plenty of stuff to do find after that. I haven't finished looking around at 35+ hours, and I haven't read a single spoiler for this game. But you didn't even give yourself a chance, so too bad, that's your fault.

And please tell us your name so we can all scan through your mentioned games' credits for the "I'm The Reason This Game Was Changed" title. If you were such a huge influence, you should be listed right???

Yeah, heh. boring is the main word after you do the SP and Mp stuff.

A game with a lifespan of 80 hours, after you accomplished everything there is to do, and everything thats possible to accomplish/buy/trade, and seen everything in the whole game, is not worth buying IMHO. I probably spent about 40-50 hours, at most. I think that everyone will reach this conclusion when they played a couple more weeks.

I made 3.5 million before i went to see Juni in cambridge in SP. Bought a Dromadery from Mactan and didnt need any more money after that. Hacked my rep with corsari/bounty hunters/outcasts and went and bought a sabre.

In MP, same thing. Buy a dromadery quick and then lane hack in bretonia or kusari for 30 minutes. Make 1 million. Its not even funny how easy it is. Police cant touch me, i just sit there in turret mode and mow them down.

Point is, even if you spend the extra 2 hours to get nomads, and what not, what then? There is no ship in the game which a half decent player cant kill with 5 class 9 guns, in under 5 seconds. Why even bother getting nomads? There is nothing to be gained from any further playing
