Microsoft Game Voice is Awesome!

This is a free discussion forum on Freelancer. This is the place to discuss Freelancer issues NOT covered by the other boards!

Drop the joystick and step away from the forum. We have you surounded.

Anyway, I don't think I could handle the thought of constantly yelling at my computer without it even doing anything wrong. I would be interested in voice chat, unfortunately none of my friends have head-set-mics.

Why didn't I register the day after?

I´m already using my GameVoice with voice commands... IT´S INCREDIBLE!!!! Of course there is a small delay (maybe half a second), but for comands like GoTo, Map, Dock, Cruise, Free Flight, Closest Enemy, GameVoice is great because I can focus on the fight... You know: fly and fight with the mouse, control speed, manouvers and heavy weapons with the keyboard, and do the rest with the Voice!!!

It´s a great adition, thank´s again for the tip.

Thanks for the feedback.

Seeing I already have a headset with a mike, I presume I can use this with the Game Voice share software. Is there any other software that will do the same thing that it may be worth testing out?

I came across this website;

http://www.gameclubcentral.com

They host a variety of forums that deal with different gamevoice devices. They also host downloads of profiles and offer tips on configuring. It looks as though there are a couple of programs that offer the chat capabilities and these guys rank them and tell you the pros and cons of each.

Microsofts official site is;

That's excellent. Thank you kindly.

That does sound pretty neat, although I have to admit I would probably be severely derided by friends/family/whoever happened to be around if I were heard using it

I have been a member of Gameclubcentral for a couple of years now. If you are getting into voice gaming you won't find a better community to join. They are very friendly to newcomers. Come by and drop us a line if you have any questions.

Gamevoice is pretty cool and as far as being derided by your family and friends when you're heard using it, well, you'll be wearing headphones anyways so you won't hear what they're saying. At worst they'll be saying it behind your back and you'll develope a weird paranoia everytime you play the game where you think that everyone is talking about you.

Seeing I had a headset already and didn't fancy filling the coffers of Mr Gates I was on the look out for free software that did voice commands. Due to gameclubcentral (thanks again Stone1295) I came across a program called Shoot. It wasn't the easiest thing to install and configure but after a while I got it working with Freelancer.

I have to say it's better than I expected. 'Nav Map', 'Cruise', 'Dock', etc are all pretty instantaneous and the voice detection is nearly 100%. Overall it is more productive than using the keyboard. The only thing that I didn't map was the 'fire missile' etc as I thought I'd better cut down on the possibility of friendly fire!

Speaking of GameClubCentral.com

Hey folks, `Smaug here, webmaster/owner of GCC. I have several points to make, and a few requests for those using GV and Freelancer.

1. We need Freelancer Game Voice profile online for our downloads section. If you have one made, please send it to me via email ([email protected]), we have 2 Freelancer profiles, but not one for GV yet

2. I will agree with another post in here, GameCommander 2 is a better product for voice recognition, and if you decide to look at it, you will want to know I offer GCC members $5 off it on our site However GV has the "puck", which is a nice added bonus.

3. Anyone need a webhost for a Freelancer clan? Let me know

4. Getting a few requests for a dedicated GCC Freelancer server. I am looking at this option myself with the home machines, but I fear my network connection may not be robust enough. Anyone want to host a freelancer server for us?

I found GV like most of you. I saw it as a neat gadget, and grabbed it the first day I saw it on shelves (Back in 2000). I started a site for GV users called GameVoiceClub.com, and from there, we moved into our current state. You won't find any other site with this many device profiles, and info on voice chat/control in gaming. I invite you all to stop by our forums and say hi too!

Side note: We have some great contest for you guys too, giving away a few games right now, and soon I hope, a few new video cards

I've got a GV to, but i rarely use it.
Since i got a Strategic Commander the GV is only gathering dust on my desk to be honest.

I'll have to agree with everyone that'll say that the lerning curve is way to high, but when u master it..... it's way faster and more agile then a keyboard.
the only thing that i can think of witch should be improved is the weight.
I stuck a piece of doube sided tape under it, 'cause it'd slide accross my desk when the battle got exiting.

But b4 i bought my SC the GV rocked my world.
I just thought i might share this with y'all GV users.

I tried shoot yesterday, really cool after training it.

But I have problems with it "queueing commands" !
I'm not sure if it the latest version of shoot!, M$ Voice Reco, or what
I've sent a mail off to developer already, but I am still waiting for a reply. Oh well, atleast it's for free, so you won't hear me complaining.
