Reference to the new movie from Mamoru Oshii

Has anyone else noticed the billboard that scrolls "Avalon - Beautiful" when you land on Planet Manhattan? It's interesting that the font of the sign matches the poster title for Mamoru (Ghost in the Shell) Oshii's first live action movie "Avalon". Maybe it's me but check out the poster at

to see what I mean.. BTW the movie is set in a future video game <G>.

Hmm...interesting. The font doesn't quite match up, but it seems like a possibility.

I just checked the trailer out and it seems incredibly cool! (I'd expect no less from the guy who made the Ghost in the Shell movie.) Thanks for cluing me in!

Neil Gaiman was working on an english voice over script with introductions for Miramax who own's the rights to the film in the U.S. So far Neil has said that he doesn't think their going to use his ideas and that it might just go to video. You can pick up copies of the DVD for R2 on Ebay however.

Given the nature of Freelancer and the game world of Avalon (the game is illegal) I could see the DA folks getting into the idea that someday we might be playing something like Freelancer for real in some virtural world contruct.
