Mounting weapon from cargo?

Ok, So I picked up some good weapons after a battle, and they are in my cargo bay. I have an open slot to mount this weapon, so how do I do it? If i sell and rebuy, it will cost me money. I have tried dragging the weapon from cargo to the mounting slot, but that doesnt work.

Once you've landed, remove one weapon by clicking the little "puzzle" in the corner of the weapons image, and then mount the other one in the same way!

It's not possible to mount weapons when you're flying but if you hit F7 it looks like it's possible to jettison your weapons while flying, because if you click on one of your weapons the little garbage can appears. I haven't tried this so I don't know if it really works.
