Bases Turning Hostile. Bug or Feature

Well while searching around I found a freighter caring 10 tons of golds. later on I went to Mactan base as I was leaving some pirate demanded my cargo and then turned. I blasted out of there and eventually the rogues became white (neutral again). I went back to Mactan but it was still red even though I'm neutral with the lane hackers. So what does everybody think.

There was a similar post on the subject... I believe one of the replies told a story of a bar where you killed the bartender's son and returning 2 weeks later... you think you'll be getting a drink from him?

I always thought it is because a ship from a different faction is visiting the base is hostile to you, the Hackers help him fight you because they like him more than you. Maybe wrong though, never stuck around to see who else besides the Hackers was shooting at me

I noticed this yesterday. I was actually 2 stops into the green with the hackers (just after mission 4), but when I returned to Magellan I got assaulted by a group of pirates comprising outcasts, rouges and yes a couple of hackers. The Mactan base was also hostile to me. I presumed this was because I was still "neutral" with the hackers, so they happened to join the winning team. Damn, I thought I was going to make a killing on engine parts from New London!

Murphy's law states, if anything will go wrong it will !

so its both a feature and a bug i think

a stupid red hessian wanted my cargo, i didnt give him, he turned red and the base turned red, but the thingie says im friendly with them

I can see the lone hostile showing up and turning all the neutrals against you. But how do you explain this? To explain this situation, I have to tell you where I am in the game, which could be considered a spoiler, so .....

OK, I followed the SP story to Bretonia so the Hackers and Rogues are neutral. I bought a new ship so the Bounty Hunters are neutral. And in fact, my relations with all 3 have improved slightly from killing a bunch of Mollys, although all are still neutral. And I'm on extremely good terms with every corporation I've met so far, including Agiera and Orbital Spa and Cruise. So I decided to takd advantage of this by going to Cortez and buy a Wolfhound if possible at Montezuma. I mean, I'm at least neutral with everybody who lives there. But it was not to be.

First off, for some reason the jump gate at the Cortez end of the Manchester-Cortez route, and all the trade lanes leading from it to Curacao, were hostile as soon as I arrived in the system, and were shooting at me before I even had control of my ship following the jump. Why? I'm very friendly with their owners. Even planet Curacao was hostile when I went over to look at it.

So I got off the trade route and wandered around in the ice fields looking for Montezuma. Space was full of neutral bounty hunters, rogues, and hackers, who all exchanged courteous greetings with me while busily killing each other. But they all left me completely alone. It was very strange wandering around without the constant threat of being attacked, and watching furious combat happening only a few hundred meters away, but it was very useful for exploration and I found some interesting things. And I never fired a shot in the Cortez system.

Eventually I found Montezuma base. I did this by chatting up passing Rogues until I found some who said they were going there. Then I joined formation with them and flew for some time within 100m of several of them. They were neutral the whole time, and we didn't meet any bounty hunters. When Montezuma appeared at 15km, it was neutral, and only Rogues and Hackers were in the area.

All went fine until I got to within about 1000m of the base and was just about to click on it to dock. Then suddenly, without any provocation from me or any non-neutral ships appearing, everything went hostile and blew me out of space.

So I reloaded and tried again. The jump gate and trade lanes were hostile as before, but I flew straight to where I now knew Montezuma to be. As before, I passed numerous Rogues, Hackers, and bounty hunters, and as before they ignored me completely and just killed each other. But I approached Montezuma alone, and it was neutral, as was every ship in the area, all of which were Rogues and Hackers. And again Montezuma blew me away without warning.

So what's up with that? Why do the jump gates and trade lanes hate me in Cortez when they love me everywhere else? Why do the Rogues suddenly hate me when I get close to their base?

its a feature for sure .... i can confirm this for you coz i just experienced it last nite...... Liberty rougues are netural (slanting to hostile but still neutral) to me but the outcasts hate my guts.... Whenever i head to rogue territory, i can dock, hail and do the usual nonsense and get the usual neutral responses... but as soon as ONE outcasts shows up, the rogues turn red to me coz they are good buddies with the outcasts .... same thing happens with rogues and lane hackers....

but just by bribing someone to make the hackers like me, outcasts AND rogues are totaly neutral to me and i didnt take too bad a rep hit with the officials ....

its a good idea to bribe junkers to like you too ..... but dont overdo it ....

i was on VERY GOOD terms with the liberty people when i bribed the junkers and then bribed the hackers ...... now im on good terms with junkers, hackers, misc other factions and neutral terms with everyone else except Hessians and Xenos who hate the crap outta me! hahahahaha .... guess i shouldnt have murdered so many xenos ... ;P

PS. If junkers or some other pirates request for your cargo and you just ignore their request, as long as you DONT fight with them, just run away, your rep with them wont change!

Definate Feature...That's why I don't go into bretonian space too much any more, they seem to not like that I mostly do corsair missions now a days...
