SP quest faction me so that I can''t trade w/o attacks and c

Seems that the SP is REALLY geared towards allying with Liberty early on and alienating the junkers/order, etc. Now I have no choice but to stay with my factions that I made up as a result of following a few of the preset missions, till at least I get enough credits to play with that and even it out.

So how does anyone do otherwise? Do I have to start a new game and ignore the sp quests?

Any suggestions?

PS - I am only level 6 and only just finished the missions in california. So, I'm relatively new to the game, though I've played for several days now. I am taking my time, trying to explore and do some trades b/w the sp quests, but I've found it REAL hard not to even more entrench myself in the existing factions and alienate others. Would LOVE to get in with the bounty hunters, but they won't talk to me, even though I have a smidgen of rank on both sides of the middle bar with them.

Thanks

attack the enemies of the faction u want to get in with, so like for the BH, try attacking the police for a little bit.... but be prepared to run if u dont have too good of a ship... and then wait for like 10 mins and the planets will usually forget about ur little killing spree, so...

Did somebody say my name?

I'm level 6, have a patriot and not yet outside the Liberty systems. Still trying to locate some of the bases (like buffalo and such) for optimum trading b/w missions.

So you say I should target cops? Not sure if I will take em, but wont that screw me traveling till I get out of here?

Thanks

I guess I'll just play along then. Seems you can't do anything BUT do the SP story and than means all the outlaw types will hunt me on site everwhere I go.

So how do people join these factions, and how do they then trade w/o the local police attacking them (if you kill them to help faction with outlaw types, then surely they see you as outlaw as well).

I know I'm jumping the gun, but seems I can't get more than 2 waypoint jumps before some band of bandits derails me, cause I've hunted them so much early on and followed the plot.

I guess I'll take your advice though and see where it takes me.

Thanks

The junkers never seem to hate me. They come close to it, but they never quite reach hostile. I get free access to their bases.

And in SP, at one point, the game alters your faction with the lane hackers so that it's slightly above midline neutral. And they have some good stuff too.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Even if you do change the factions, as soon as you do the next mission in the campaign, all the factions will get changed back to the scripted ones.

So even if I pound the Xenons (or whatever they are called who seem to hate almost everyone) for a while, as soon as I go to the next sp quest it's all for nothing????
