Cool, please make sure you do not break "single player" when you do it.
(some people still play the plot line)
I wonder if there is a way to add a menu option to the beginning of Freelancer that would let you choose between the storyline and Open singleplayer?
Then again, I would have no clue if that was possible. <sigh>
An official salute to the code monkies who make all this possible.

Unfortunately, since installing your patch, FL will no longer run unmodded, and while it will run modded, it no longer sees servers on my LAN (but still sees servers on the Internet). I have updated video drivers, audio drivers, and DirectX, I have defragged, I have reinstalled and reinstalled FL. I have scrubbed the Registry and reinstalled to a different drive -- all to no avail.
dxdiag runs all diagnostics clean, no errors.
The event viewer shows extremely cryptic alternating errors:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7.
"Part of the event" is "6" in the subsequent error.
I will not post the entire fl-client-errors.log file, but there are no errors or warnings until the end of the file, as follows:
WARNING:General:set_gamma_function() called outside of create_buffers/destroy_buffers
C:\work\builds\dalibs\dalibs-build\build\Src\RenderPipeline\DX8\rp_dx8.cpp(1019) : NOTICE:General:found d3d device nVidia GeForceFX 5200 (NV34.3)

E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\nn\NN_Chat.cpp(1362) : NOTICE:General:Channel add successful.
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\LoginMgr.cpp(351) : NOTICE:General:Starting single player game.
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Common\Archetype.cpp(60) : *** ERROR: ArchDB::Get(2863353348) failed
There is, incidentally, no directory or file E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Common\Archetype.cpp
on my system.
I am running XP SP2 on a MSI K8N Neo Platinum mainboard with an Athlon64 3200 and 512MB Crucial RAM, an SB Live! and an nVidia FX5200. Not the hottest setup in the world, I know, but it was running fine before I started all this.
I am open to any suggestions. My next option is a scratch reinstall of the OS.
With many thanks for your time and attention,
DryBones

What do you mean it won't run? It won't start? It won't let you play? Can you get into options? Try re-enabling 3D Sound under Audio options.
I have reinstalled and reinstalled FL.
Did you delete the game folder after you did a complete uninstall of Freelancer(including deleting all player data and saves)?
The event viewer shows extremely cryptic alternating errors:
Could you hit the copy button and paste some of them here?
There is, incidentally, no directory or file E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Common\Archetype.cpp on my system.
There shouldn't be anyway, that error is from one of the mods you are using most likely.
I need to know more about what the game isn't doing now (that it was before you installed the patch).
Could you be more specific about the problems you are having and what you were doing at the time? In order to get job offers from any faction you have to have a minimum level of good reputation with them. There is nothing in this patch that I am aware of that could prevent you from being able to take a mission on Cadiz Base.
No-one has ever complained about this before when they used the S.D.K. alone and this patch is based on that project. Since you are the only one, out of the some 60,000+ people who have used the S.D.K., to have this problem then I have to assume it is something you have done to create the problem. Perhaps you are trying to use a mod or the game was currupted by one. In any case I would need more information to really help you.

About the lodranges topic; if you do decide to hack the exe could you possibly also hack all the "lod" .cmp and .3db's to show from a long distance?

If you want to get in touch with me regarding the QuickFix patch the best way is to join the =EOA= forums and post in the thread below. I am referring people there because I check our forums far more often than I do Lancers. If you do post here then you must be prepared for a potentially late reply. You can, of course, contact me through the =EOA= contact form on our site. This form is setup to bypass all of my spam filters to ensure I receive your email. If you email me directly you run the risk of being caught in my filters and I will never know you sent me anything.
