Is it possible to use AC3D models in freelancer

Read the headline, AC3D is a modelling program.

if you can export it to a Milkshape-readable format, yes. currently it is the only program that an exporter to the cmp format has been written.

No. CMP and 3DB files are UTF encoded files, that means there is a certain structure (Which you can show and edit with the UTF editor) that is not contained in normal 3D applications' files, for example, hardpoint data, LOD(level of detail) data etc. There is only one exporter so far that can create all this info and convert a model, and this one only works for Milkshape. MIlkshape itself is a sucky program, so most people just make the model and in the end export it to Milkshape (which has various importers by default) and from there to CMP (and the textures to MAT).

I may think that I have found an exporter to milkshape on AC3D own site. But there milkshape is called "Mlikshape ascii" or something, is that the same?

Whoa guy... hold on.

Export from AC3D to OBJ or 3DS (surely it does one of those two formats)... then import into MS3D. Much easier. And if you can export to OBJ, you can go straight to UVMapper, and lay out your texturemaps...
