CRASH AND EXIT

I don't understand this, just got Starlancer and it randomly exits and shuts down the game and I am back at the desktop. This is quite annoying when you are half way through a mission, anyone else get this?

P4 2.0 Ghz
256 RAM
GeForce 2

Yeah, I have.

I keep getting told it's a Windows XP problem, and to run the game in Windows 98 Compatability mode. I've yet to try it since I'm rather busy, maybe I'll get around to it next week.

turn off the 3d sound if its on

I rule the world incognito!

Yep, those are you're only two options. IF you're running Wn XP, try it in compatibility mode and make sure you turn off 3d sound.

Do you get back to desktop or do you completely reboot?

My compatibility modes are majorly screwed. They work as well as a flat wheel. And I have the same problem.

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Hey guys,

Thanks for the help, it does not reboot but it bring me straight to the desktop, ok so I guess I will switch to the W98 compatible mode, and turn off the 3d sound,

It is funny you say this because everytime this has happened I have heard the 3D sound effects become louder and louder only to crash the game..

Thanks....

OK, I disabled the 3D sound and it works fine now, I did not start it in W98 mode just disabled the 3D sound and works like a dream.....thanks I would never have figured this out...

Hard to imagine, but SL crashed on WIN95 once, too (on mission 24, right after Perov jumped in). Still gan't get what was wrong, but it never happened again. Microsoft is kinda mysterious sometimes

Seems to be problems with EAX lately. Try turning it off.

there is apparently a widespread myth among users that "spamming" is what happens when you dump cans of Spam into a revolving fan.

Ok... I turned off 3D sound and ran it in compatibility mode (Only launches game when it's on Windows 2000, when it's set at Windows 95 or 98, it just brings up the *There was an error and the program needs to close* and with Windows NT it can't find the CD) and it was working fine. I got on this morning and all of a sudden it's crashing again.

My game keeps crashing on several occasions. I'm thinking it could be the error with the mission itself. I'm talking about mission 12 here, the one where you have to steal a couple of fuel cells from the Stalag asteroid and then blow the rest up. Half of the time, I just don't make it out in one piece. The other half, i made it out a bit damaged, and when I engaged the enemy, the game kept crashing.

Just now, I played it again. I didn't even get to that point. The game crashed after I entered the inside of the asteroid.

Damn it! Why can't MicroSoft make a patch to fix these problems?

no it's what Viper said, it's the EAX in the 3d sound; get shot of that and it works fine. The only other problem is in the cutscene where the Reliant rams the Coalition ship, that can be hard work on a slow sytem without much RAM/VRAM
