Techy question

Well, I got SL and I think it's a great game but it has a glitch, namely it crashes to desktop, randomly. The other day it crashed aftre the weaponstraining (I was rated poor, so that might have something to do with it ). Today it crashed at the debriefing of mission 2.
Anyone got any ideas?

Hmm. SL has many bugs, glitches and funny habbits. Mines crashed to desktop many times. Usually after finishing a mission-critical, but dificult, activity. That's nice. Grr. Unless this is a specific bug that someone has an answer to, or it happens at the same point of the game every time and no matter how many times you try it does it, I think you're going to have to grin and bear it.

I kinda figured that, but still, you know, just in case...

I trust that you disabled 3D Sound, Nickless. That fixes 90% of the SL problems that people have.

dunno, I'll have to check it.

Very well, I'll wait here until you get back. *Starts wandering around the forums whistling "Take me out to the Ballgame" *

Also, i can depend on your OS. If you are running XP, trying running it in Windows 98 comptatability mode. That's what I run it in, and it never crashes.

*Starts munching on peanuts* Well? Have you checked the 3D Sound yet? I'll assume that you have. Also, you may wish to disable any firewalls that you have running, as some can interfere with certain games. Make sure that you are not connected to the internet though! Additionally, try getting the latest version of DirectX (9.0b) if you don't already have it, and the latest graphics card and sound card drivers.

Heh, I kinda forget to check all that stuff, but I have found out that running it in compatibility mode doesn't work for me...

Also, it seems to happen when the briefinglady (To damn tired to remember) says: Lets move out.
But it also happens at random moments. Not to often luckily so I can usually play for a long extended amount of time.

I'll remember to do those things you sugested Esq

You were gone?

Edit: Damn spelling.

No problem. Let me know if you have any further problems, and I'll do mt best to assist you. If I'm around that is .

Well, I forgot them again Esq, but this time I didn't have any problems... Technical problems that is.

I've heard a lot about this mission and it seems I got to the point where I must depend more on luck then on skill.
I'm supposed to torp the Coalition Capship. It took me 4 freaking times to just get in formation with the damn capship, but I took it down anyway
But now I must defend the Yamato against a torp run of the Uber kind. Ok, I only got this far just once, so I'll give it a few other tries for sure, I don't back down that easily. But right now it's to damn late to retry a 2 hour operation.

You were gone?

Edit: Damn spelling.

I know the feeling! That mission can be REALLY annoying, but make sure that you select the Shroud before you start the mission. The Shroud's speed and Blindfire are very useful when destroying torpedoes.

For some reason, everytime I restart my computer, I have to reinstall the game. I get an error that says invalid operation and
"LANCER caused an invalid page fault in
module LANCER.EXE at 0167:004129bf."

I thought I saw something in the FAQ that mentioned lancer.exe, but i thought it meant during the install process, not after. Here it is:
If you are having trouble accessing the SETUP.EXE file then you may have to delete some TEMP files in your Windows directory. One of the many problems with Windows is that it doesn't delete unused TEMP directories automatically. The TEMP files will build up in your Windows directory, taking up a lot of valuable hard drive space.

Will that help and where could I find those directories on windows 98se?
