Has anyone found the Phoenix's Nova Cannon useful? I mean, wouldn't it be better to just use full fire and rip through them? If you've got good aim then the Nova Cannon takes 'em out in 1-2 shots, but if you miss...it'll take awhile to charge up again. Does it work well against static targets or capital ship parts? Or is full fire a superior option there?
Maybe I'm using it wrong, but I'm thoroughly unimpressed. I tried using it against Kurgens. I found that a 2-second salvo of "full guns" does at least as much damage as a single shot from the Nova Cannon, which takes that long to charge up. Not to mention the Nova Cannon seems to have an extremely short range (30m?), and half the time I seem to miss with it.
Hehe, FF u rock.
Very nice bashing. You're not welcome.
Umm...what does that have to do with the Nova Cannon? Nothing! And your post doesn't make me think quite highly of the WolfPack...
HI guys
sry to dissapoint u but u´ve come 4 years to late rofl
the zone who was always the host for our sl games is buried by stupid microsuck
only chance now playing it via msn or tcp/ip :S
I never used to find the nova cannon useful. But after I started playing SL again quite recently, I've found it's useful for some things. For example, some Coalition cruisers have quite 'delicate' subsystems. If you have to take out, say, the shield generator, then you can charge the nova cannon while you're on the way, get close, and then unleash it. It's only taken more than one shot to disable such a subsystem on a full-blown carrier. Which also mean's it's useful for quickly taking down Berijev subsystems, especially if you're out of missiles.

That's what I wanted to know. It's good for sneak attacks on immobile or slow-moving objects.
And if you look closely, Basilisks have a blue outline when they cloak. Try hitting that with a Nova Cannon .

It's fantastic when you need to get a lot of stuff blown up quickly...the attack on the Pukov is a great place to use it. The best use I've found is to do a combo attack on the stronger subsystems(shields, engine, etc) firing the Nova and a few screamers off at once so you can move on to other tasks(like those damn torpedo bombers). Saves lots of missiles and you never have to spend more than a second on each part of the ship.
