I've just finished Freelancer and want more of the same so is there any point in getting starlancer now?
if freelancer even got close to the fun of starlancer.. then it would be a super game.. but the controls are just sucky...
and the only point is that if you do not have played starlancer, then you missed some critical enjoyment in your life.. (that means you die unhappy.. )

But I'll be damned if I'll ever know the point.
Now all I can ask is, who was he?
And who was she?
And what was the point?"

For the price it goes for now you can't possibly go wrong. It's one of the best singleplayer campaigns(IMHO) I've ever played, even if multiplayer isn't that popular. Lots of replay value, lots of ways to play, missiles that work...joystick support.
Worth more money than you'll pay for it, that's for sure.
Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Ok, so same here....
Finished Freelancer SP mode a few times, played MP a few times... modded it a fair bit then played it some more....
Since the few dollars I could pick it up for now doesn't really matter... what would matter is the hundred dollars or so I'd have to spend on a flight stick to actually play it....
So ONE question so I know if I want to go through the hassel.... With Freelancer, there is still limited playability AFTER the story is done... Though I found the whole level restrictions with ships and equipment really anoying and took away from my enjoyment...
With Starlancer, how is it set up? Level requirments on ships and equipment and after the story mode can you still play? Are there still things to explore and new things to keep you amused?

No. It's a tight single-player plot. You don't take your time to wander around. You get shot by your CO for doing that. You advance and get better ships as you complete each mission. That's it really. But this is only a response to your question: I highly recommend buying and playing it! very good story, good flight models, good design etc etc. 9/10 game for its time.
