win2000/ti4400 Artifacts

hey peeps,

i've got a problem... i had to upgrade to win 2000 pro and now starlancer is all messed up...

i get artifacts and lots of tearing when i try to run in hardware mode..

i had the game running on a voodoo 3 and 5 real well... and when i had win 98 with my GF4 ti4400 it was awsome... but now it demands software mode... grrrr...

my specs are as follows..

athlon 1700
GF4 ti4400 running 43.00 det's (but have also tried the 31.00, 40.72, 41.09 and the 42.86 detonators)
512Mb ddr 2700

i have win 2000 pro (i have tried the game with and without the sp3 patch and it made no differance)


many thanks for any halp you guys can give me.... (a patch or something would be sooooooo very sweet because i think this game looks soooo god damn ugly in software mode!!1)

hey just thought i'd post again... I've just installed Starlancer on my other system...

athlon 700
radeon 9000 pro
win2000 (same as the other comp)

and boom... this card will make the game look perfect provided you turn off the VR transitions...


i think the problem with the geforce cards is driver related... i'm gona have some words with people i know and see if we can work out a fix for nvidias cards!!!

im not much of a computer expert so don't count on my help to much but try the tech forums... never know! hope this helps

i'm doing some driver testing now...

all of the drivers above the 40.72's seem buggy with this game... i'm gona download some of the pre detonator drivers and see if i can get them to run... i haev a feeling it's either bad coding inthe drivers (but that should have been ironed out in further releases) or bad coding in starlancer... which is more than possible since there was never a patch for the game...

i have a friend that does quite a bit of programming for linux (he rewrite windows drivers ect) so i'm gona pass the prob on to him and see what he can sort out..

you couldn't tell me if the starlancer game engine was ever used in any other games??? or demos... if it was chances are the solution will already be sorted...
