Invisible ship on planet

I've made a new battleship and it works fine in flight but it won't show up on the planet space ports or shipdealers. I've changed the LOD settings multiple times and that doesn't seem to work. Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

Just a random suggestion, considering I know bugger all on these topics...

Perhaps, because the battleship is so frikkin HUGE, your view in the dealer is INSIDE the ship, so you dont actually see anything?

had the same prob mate first time

the prev post could be correct but there is a few other things

1.try first changin the lod setting to say two lods

example 0, 1500

milkshape will only export a model with one lod
the ingame ships have multiple lods that are combined with the model when exported

2. try checking yopur hpmount hardpiont is correctly placed as if it to high the ship ill appear higher than the camera can pan or lower than the floor itself.

3.make sure the texture you used to skin the model are sized in multiples of 16 and are named correctly E.G

128x128 pixels
256x256
512x512

hope this helps a bit

Wanderer try setting the LOD to "LODranges = 0, 99999, 99999, 99999" that tells freelancer there is only one view and uses your model's one setting.

ive never had it not show on the planet then it does show in space(with me its either not there or its is)

couple of questions -when you go to take off is there a load of weapons just hanging there? when the animation starts does it come out of the ground or any weird and wonderful thing like that ? when you see a movie scene in space does it show the ship (i.e docking rings or jumpgates)?

hydra/ize multiple lods are easy it just means you have to use dds textures.

i also wish people would get over this textures must be in multiples of 8,16 or what the f£%$ ever. they are better in these sizes, but freelancer does not care(it seems to iether use them the way people make them or does some conversion of its own. me i think its the former because of a texture prob i had an it only looked right with this long thin texture). the only thing about naming is the mat file material list must match the material list in milkshape and the material list must correspond to the correct texture name in the texture list. oh and the file that is imported into the texture file bit of the mat can be called anything you want (this is a good thing for checking texture changes).

American Scientists spent millions developing the perfect writing utensil; It writes in Zero-gravity, upside down, under water, in space... The Russians used a Pencil.

Free spirit, you are right. While on planet, theres just a bunch of weapons hanging in midair. Since its a cruiser its understandably large, but it should not be that large. Space based cutscenes are fine but it doesn't appear on planetary cutscenes. I'll try the lod settings once more. By the way, does anyone know how to make sur files. I've seen several ship mods that have them but i'm currently borrowing the Osiris sur file for the time being since i have no idea how to create them myself.

hey wanderer,

freelancer seems not to display a ship if a certain percentage of it would be off screen - i had this with mine in some of the equipment rooms. since mine was rather smaller than yours ( never a pharase uttered with pride that ) i solved it by moving the mount point.long as it shows up in space i think people are going to be happy.
