These are 2 things I want to do please explain to me how.

Check out the following tutorials, both to be found in this forum. They will help you get started:

1: "Goods.ini, market_ships.ini, engine_equip.ini, weapon_equip.ini" by Hairfarmer.

2: "Compilation of ALL IDS Names, Mod Info, Tutorials, INI Explanation" by Reynen. ( EXCELLENT source of info ).

You'll also need to download an .ini decompression utility ( e.g. BINIQDU v.1.1 ) in order to convert the ini files from "programeeze" to english:
