How to play "The Next Generation Mod" without CD?

Hi!
As I really can´t remember where my Freelancer-CD is (I always play with "No-CD-Patches"

and I would like to play the "Next Generation - MOD", I NEED HELP!! When I simply replace the TNG-EXE with a No-CD-EXE, then I can´t play online as the game now displays that I´ve got version 1.0... (The "cracked" EXE is v1.0 and the TNG is v2.7.6.... I would be soooooo unbelievable happy if you could help me!!!

i know how to, dunno if it's allowed though.

once you know how, you can use it to apply with Freeworlds, Evo, Vic's, etc.

ps... whatever happened to all the Vic servers?

There are 6 reasons why you don't need an illegal crack to play your game at all.

However, how you manage to follow ANY mods installation without a CD to install from beggars belief completely. Since most mod activations or de-activations will cause FL to need to be reinstalled, I simply don't get how you manage to play the game at all without a CD.

It seems very easy to you to get an english version all the mods work with... but I´m from germany and there is no way to get the english version again without to import it!!!! My Cd (which is lost) was bought by an friend, who was in the USA... I could try to convince him to fly to the USA again to buy me another one - HA HA *bad joke*

one more question: is it really illegal to use some kind of a crack? if yes... then mods would be also illegal as they also change the software without having the rights and some mods make it possible to play the game without cd...

the rights only protect the exe file itself.

The makers of the game, put encodeing on the CD, so that it is required to have it to play the game. They set the terms that you can use their game, and haveing the CD is a requirement that you agree to when you install the game, so yes, it is illegal to us a no-CD crack.

· Separation of Components. With the exception of the Server Software, the SOFTWARE PRODUCT is licensed as a single product. Its component parts may not be separated for use on more than one COMPUTER.

7. COPY PROTECTION

· The SOFTWARE PRODUCT may require the original media for use of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT on the COMPUTER and/or employ copy protection technology to prevent the unauthorized copying of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT. It is illegal to make unauthorized copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT or circumvent any copy protection technology employed in the SOFTWARE PRODUCT.
