I am a complete noob when it comes to modding freelancer. I dloaded FLMM and the Rebalance mod, but have no idea how to use FLMM to install Rebalance. Or how to install Rebalance period. All i have are two folders that say "data" and "exe" with lots of files inside of them. Please help me install this awesome mod!!!!!

hi

far as i know all you have to do is create a folder with the name of the mod in your flmm mod folder then paste the data and exe folders etc into it.

havent tried it myself but that is the theory.

next time you start flmm it should pick it up and your good to go

OK, I'm just a little new to modding, so maybe I'm making a really stupid mistake or something, but anyway.
But every time I try any mod (not any, but most of them, I obviously haven't tried every mod on the site), I can install it and activate it with mod manager, but when I load the game, it crashes right after the start sequence, and won't get better, you have to reinstall freelancer, so far as I can see. thanks for your help.

Read the FAQ that comes with FLMM; it tells you how to get back your saved games .

Fred,
The same thing happened to me but i fixed it. All you have to do iz make sure all the files you are editing and copying are NOT Read-Only. U can right click on a folder and then click properties, check read-only and apply it to all the subfolders and files, Then do the same thing except uncheck Read-Only this time. It should make all the files non-read-only and the mod should install fine. If the problem persists then try replacing the problem files manually (cut-and-paste them from your rebalance mod files). BE SURE TO MAKE BACKUPS OF THE ORIGINAL FILES IF YOU MANUALLY REPLACE FILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this helps-

Download FLMM v1.2 beta from a thread in the General Editing forum; it fixes the access_denied problem and has a menu option under Tools that will open up your saved game directory (which is in My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\SinglePlayer).

Fred,
Make sure when u cut and paste that u dont "copy" and paste but actually click and drag the file into the new directory. The files u manualy install need to be deleted from your mod file directory. In other words: keep the original game files u backed up and delete all the mod files u manually installed from the Rebalance mod folder. If the FLMM does not sense a file that needs to be installed it will skip over it and go to the next file. Look for the files that are causing the problem, manually install them from your mod folder, and delete the mod files u just installed from your mod folder. If this doesnt make sense, or doesnt work, Email me at [email protected].
